It's funny how visiting Mia today didn't go as he planned, but Silas doesn't mind in the slightest. In fact, he thinks it might have gone even better than he hoped. Besides, what he had originally planned for today will be perfect for tomorrow. He'll text her soon and suggest it, but not quite yet. He's afraid he'll look too eager -if he didn't already do that when he offered to join her on a three day trip out of state for her sister's wedding.
Something suddenly clicks in his mind. Three days. That means two nights. Where will they be staying? What will the sleeping arrangements be like? He decides he's not going to be the one to bring it up. He'll just deal with it as he may when the time comes.
But he's making himself more nervous the more he thinks about what this trip will entail. He'll have to meet her family, and her ex boyfriend's family. He'll have to bear all of their judgement. He'll have to convince them all that he and Mia are a somewhat established couple at least.
Oh, what was he thinking?
Well, he was thinking that she looked pretty pinned down when she and her ex were talking and he wanted to help her out. Not to mention, he wanted the chance to spend more time with her, so it looks like he's getting the best of both worlds. If the two of them can pull this off.
Maybe this is wrong, agreeing to this with the excuse of wanting her as his friend when he knows he's hoping for more than that. But friends is a good place to start. So friends is what they will be. He won't do any more than needed to keep up their charade. He won't cross any boundaries. He can do that.
Still, he feels like maybe he's taking advantage of her kindness, so he decides he'll bring it up tomorrow when he sees her and make sure she's not having any second thoughts about the whole thing.
He manages to make it an hour before he texts her, and when she agrees excitedly to the plans he's made for tomorrow, he grins at his phone like a smitten school kid. In fact, he spends most of his afternoon and evening like that. He tries to distract himself with books and painting so that he's not just sitting there staring at his phone and waiting for her replies, but every time the screen lights up, he tosses everything else aside and smiles.
He learns that her favorite color is pastel pink. Her favorite classic author is Jane Austen and her favorite movie is Titanic. She likes sushi and dancing and grapefruit martinis and movies when it's raining. She's a dog person, an early riser, and she prefers summer over any other month.
They're just little things, just surface level thing, but he drinks in every bit of information she gives him. He wants to know all of the little thing. But it's getting late, so he sends one last text, turns to put his phone on the charger, and then stares up at the ceiling and wonders if he'll be able to sleep.
It's two minutes before ten o'clock the following morning when he receives her text.
I'm here : )
