Her feet pounded on the pavement. Ivy was out for a run before school. She needed the fresh air and the runners rush made her day. She hummed an Egyptian song her mom used to play as she walked up the cherry red stairs. She skipped into the clean condo which was normal. Her sister Sabrina made sure that it was clean. Sabrina was 18 but she hustled like a dog for us. At 15 Ivy contributed to funds but there were only 24 hours in a day. Of course, Sabrina was in the kitchen cooking, her light brown hair tied back into a ponytail. She wore her light olive tan skin did not go well with the orange shirt she was wearing did not go well on her but Sabrina did not care. Sabrina had a long week ahead of her. Besides her usual job coaching archers, she was conducting a middle school pit for some extra cash.  Ivy got changed into an appropriate May outfit. Ivy went into the kitchen and Sabrina handed her two egg bacon and cheese sandwiches. At home, they almost never talked verbally. Ivy hugged her goodbye and 'said' " Thank you. Have a good day, my dear sister. She responded" Get out of here love. She will be up anytime now." Promptly there was a thud from their mother's room. Their mother groaned and you could faintly hear her sipping vodka contemplating whether or not she had to courage to face the day.   Sabrina's brow furrowed and she pointed towards the door. The last thing Ivy heard as she walked out the door was the sound of a glass bottle shattering. Her dear mother had thrown the empty bottle against her bedroom wall. Typical.

Ivy waved to Mrs. Belford across the street and then Mikey arrived and drove her to school

Ivy walked through the halls of Kings Village High School. She was on her way to free period when she was taken aback by a wave of emotions and was launched into a vision. Mikey kneeled on the cheap cafeteria floor he was trembling. A shotgun was placed to his head. In his perfect gelled brown hair that he was so proud of. His face was full of fear his blue eyes shimmered and were preparing for his inevitable demise. She saw herself under the cafeteria table hugging Krissie. She could not reveal her powers but damn. It's Mikey. Mikey was kneeling in the middle of the cafeteria. Mikey had a shotgun to his head.   She felt desperate but knew that this decision did not only affect her. Sabrina's life would be uprooted, but Mikey would live.  Ivy loved him he was her best friend. Ivy and Mikey were inseparable. Ivy stood from underneath the table her eyes glowed but then she saw the shooter's face. She saw his face. Ivy hesitated. At that moment a slew of gunshots/ went off. The overwhelming shock only ended after she heard the bell for homeroom over her head.  When Ivy heard the warning bell, heard the sound of feet shuffling on linoleum floors. As soon as she awoke from her vision. She felt nauseous and light-headed. She cried out for Sabrina as her body hit the floor.
