Meeting the intertwined
————————————————————————————
*Sophie's point of view*Dear Sophie,
I am writing to inform you that Alexandra has been injured in battle. She has requested your presence in the Atlarian healing base. Please leave promptly.Yours sincerely,
Aldrich EverseedI recited the contents of the letter over and over in my head. What battle? Against who?
Aldrich had said to come promptly so she had dropped everything and got on her horse Stella. She had been on a side quest following up on a lead on her target when she received the letter.
Atlaria was about a two day ride from where she was in Clarium so she would have to make a stop in Raya around half way to stay overnight.
As she rode past the beautiful scenery of lush verdant plant life she thought about how Alexandra would love it there.
Alexandra was a forest elf, a very talented one at that, she used plants in her magic to create wonderful potions and cast spells.Sophie had seen Alexandra save the lives of others many a time, once she even saved Sophie herself from a nasty bite from a poison harbinger when they were young teenagers. Harbingers were horrid scaley lizard like creatures with a poisonous bite that can kill in a matter of hours.
Sophie had been out collecting plants for Alexandra's latest practice potion when it came out of nowhere and caught her off guard and bit her on the thigh - it hurt like a bitch.
She managed to defeat it with a decent struggle and made it back to Alexandra who scolded her for going out without a throwing potion while she dressed the wound.
That was back before they had been trained in combat by Julie Colhoun, their village protector - one of the royal battalion. After the years under her wing the two could fight harbingers in their sleep. Jule, as we called her for short, didn't mess around.
Sophie found herself smiling at the memory of the early morning starts where she and Alexandra would curse the sun for rising so soon after them sleeping. Knowing that that meant a new day of hardcore training and no breaks.
'breaks are for the dead' Jule would say. However Sophie knew that neither Alexandra nor her would have changed it for the world, they loved Jule, she was the best teacher they could have asked for. In no time Jule had taught both girls everything she could and everything was good.
That was until Jule was called back to the main kingdom of the King of the Elves to fight against the Dark hoards.
They never saw Jule again.
Raya
Sophie had nearly missed the sign with all her inner thoughts taking her away from reality. She rode into the town, people were either in bed or at the trix bar and inn - her destination.
She pulled Stella into a steady trot and approached the horse barrack attached to the inn. Stella was a beautiful black mare that Sophie had bought for her travels a few years back in the market of her home village.
Stella had immediately caught her eye as she whinnied in her pen with her mane elaborately braided. Sophie fell in love at first sight and purchased her immediately."I'll be back soon girl" I reassured Stella. She didn't look to pleased to leave me but she knew I could handle myself and was happy for a rest after the long day on the road.
The bell tinkled as I walked into the Bar of the inn.
"OI ELEE"
I rolled my eyes, Elee was a name the humans had come up with as a slur for Elves. It meant outsider. Another favourite was 'pointy'.
