The Escape

Introduction

It was one of those nights again. Every human has had one. You can't do anything but stare at the ceiling and fight back the tears until you finally break. The thoughts come rushing and you suddenly feel numb. You then get sleepy. But before you fall asleep, I need you to think of your happy place. Imagine it as clear as day. This is what I call "The Escape".

Happy places change a lot. Mine went from a field of orchids to a sunset on a hill. But that is not important. I'm going to tell you a story about a boy named Sawyer. He uses the escape whenever he can... He is special, like us. But he has not realized that yet. He will soon be here with us. You guys will get along very well. Trust me.

How rude of me not to introduce myself. My name is Grim. No need to be afraid. I am here to help. Are you feeling okay there, bud? Remember, I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to guide you. I have taken care of many children like you. What's that? Oh yes, they have all been afraid. But no worries, I will not let you get harmed. If you get scared, just take a deep breath in and out. Clear your mind and let your happy place take you in. I will then take it from there. How many children have I helped? Probably more than a billion. Can't say I'm proud of that, but that's how it is. Many children have been through this, but they have not asked as many questions as you have, kiddo.
