Shim Jaehyun Fanfiction
<Y/N's P.O.V.>
I have had heaved that deep breath several times now. The more I thought of it, the more it got hard. The more it ached! The white dress lay on the bed, waiting to be worn... A sense of guilt rushed over me. His memory struck me every second. His smile as pure as the blue sky... His eyes as bright as the stars glowing amidst the darkness! I missed him... I missed Shim Jaehyun!
<FLASHBACK>
Haru came by to visit again. "Please Y/N! Think of it thoroughly... It's a chance no ordinary girl would ever get," mother dragged me to the next room to convince me for the marriage. "Eomma! What about Jake?! You think I can let go of him this easily??!!" I bursted into tears as she repeated. "Y/N," she placed her hand on my shoulder, "You know that I want the best for you! Your dad left us years ago... Don't you understand the situation? Please... Consider your marriage with Haru... He's a good man!" I was unsure about what to do. How was I to do it? Jake... How could I let go of him? Tears didn't stop as my vision blurred. I ran out... I couldn't take it anymore...
The lake side was quite as usual. The bench nearby was empty. He... wasn't there. I touched it's seat remembering him when a pair of arms wound around my waist. "Did you have to wait for long, jagiya?" I felt his chin press against my shoulder as I tried my very best to hold the pain back. "Hey..." I turned to him with a smile that was hard to bring up. He hugged me tight, "I had been missing you!" His words were hurting... They were piercing through my soul... I hugged back, "Me too...Jake!"
I couldn't take it anymore. The uninvited tears rolled down wetting his shoulders as he held me tighter. "It might be tough but we'll get through it Y/N ahh," he told unexpectedly as I broke the hug with a questioned expression. He clasped my fingers whole looking down at them and smiled. "Congratulations..." he whispered. I shook my head biting my lower lip. I didn't want to hear that from him! "We can still be together," I assured him but he kept looking down... Keeping that smile across his face... "Haru... Haru is a good guy," my heart collapsed hearing his words. Oh, how I wished I was deaf instead! Tears didn't stop as they drip on my hands. "We can make it through!" I reassured him in between my sobs. "Y/N..." he finally looked up at me, "Let... let it be here..." The ache in his voice was evident. It was evident that he didn't wish to say those words. "You don't want to speak these words, do you Jake?" I doubted him as he kept mumb. "Answer me Shim Jaehyun!!" I jolted his shoulder to which he spoke. "I'm sure I am!" Tears welled up in his eyes. "You know it isn't easy..." I told in a soft tone. "I know... but we can't rewrite what is meant for us! Y/N... look at me," he lifted my chin... My face being drenched with tears. "Remember that I'll always be there for you... as a friend... Know that I've got your back and that I'll never leave you in the dust..." He held my shoulders and smiled that painful smile once again. "Not even a second did I regret loving you! Our time together that is now history..." his touch shifted to my wet cheek, "...will be treasured by me forever!"
My knees trembled as I fell to the ground begging him to take back his words. "Shhh... it's not good for a bride to cry this way," he stroke my hair, "Your mother knows what's best for you!" "Jake... Please..." I begged him for the last time. "In our next life Y/N... I'll definitely make you mine!" with that said, he left without any further word. His 'congratulations' echoed in my ears as I rose to my feet. "Maybe... We weren't meant to be... Goodbye... Shim Jaehyun!" I told to his figure that was getting further away...
<END OF FLASHBACK>
It had been a week since the incident occurred. I agreed to start a new life with Haru and move to Japan. Jake was right. He was a good man. Despite knowing about my relationship with Jake, he was fine with the marriage. He even consoled me about it and I appreciated that. The maid entered, "Madam, the ceremony is about to begin." She headed to my long white gown indicating that I needed to get dressed up. It was indeed over. Our time together... was over!
The door opened wide. The veil went down my face as my eyes drooped. I didn't have the valor of looking at anyone especially Jake. I held the bouquet as I was escorted to the chapel with the maids of honor. I could feel the gazes on me... I could feel my mother looking at me happily. As I was about to reach the raised platform, my mother rose from her seat. She stepped towards me and gave a hug, "I've been the worst to you my child... Please forgive this mother if you can! I hope you lead a good life with him! He loves you..." "What you've done... is good for me Eomma... You don't need to apologize for that." I patted her back as she got back to her seat.
Haru seemed to have been waiting. I could just see his tall figure beside me. I couldn't look up at him. The vows begun. "I promise to be faithful to you..." he whispered in a deep voice. "So will I..." I whispered in response. The vows went on. The pastor finally declared, "Now... The groom may kiss the bride." We turned to face each other. I looked around. There was no sign of Jake... He lifted my veil and rose my chin.
Was it a hallucination? Why was it Jake who was standing before me? I blinked thrice as he spoke, "We've made it through... jagiya!"
Later, after the wedding, we met Haru outside the chapel. "Congratulations!" he wished us while I was still flustered about it all. "Haru... how did you-" he cut me off. "Jake is much worthy of you Y/N. I know how much and for how long you've been in love!" I looked at Jake as he assured me with a smile. Haru had met Jake outside the chapel before the ceremony. When asked to join, Jake refused telling that he couldn't bear to make a nuisance there. They stayed there together for several minutes as Jake told him everything about me. "Promise me you'll take good care of her," he'd told to which Haru smiled. "What if I won't?" in response, Jake got him by his collar, "Dare you hurt my Y/N!" Haru laughed it off and asked him to leave. "Afterall... she's never going to be mine!" he said which made Jake question him. "She's always been in love with you Jake. You're courageous enough to decide to let go off a girl like her!" Haru held his arm, "I have talked to her mother... She's all yours! But make sure to keep her happy!" This made Jake overjoyed as he became my groom.
However it is impossible to bring the other seasons to life without spring, Haru brought back colors to my monochrome life! Arigatou gozaimasu... Haru sama!
