"Ky! Kyna wake up!" Sammia called to me from downstairs. She was making omelets for breakfast because it was my first year at med. school. I started kind of late because, well, at first I didn't really have an interest in being a doctor but now after losing my brother in a surgical complication, I'm 25 and starting my first year.

After I slowly crawled out of bed, I sat at my vanity and rubbed my eyes 'till they were fully open. Having such annoying hair I always put it in a ponytail so it's out of my face. It pretty much has a permanent crease from the hair tie. After I threw up my hair, i sloppily put on my brown mascara and headed downstairs in my sweats.
•
"You made omelets? Thanks, I'm starving!" I say with a smile.
•
"Yea, the famous Mrs. Reeves omelets!" Sam said.
•
"You're using my mom's recipe? How sweet. She always made me them on my first day of school so you're making them on my first day of school. That's so nice!"
•
"Umm, yea! That's why I made them not because I've been having the worst cravings for omelets." Sammia said, her voice trailing off.

I ate fast realizing that I was running a little late so I hurried up stairs to finish getting ready. I changed out of my sweatpants into black leggings. And threw on a loose grey tank top with an Aztec patterned pocket on the right chest. The back of the tank top had a low swoop-neckline so it showed my grossly shaped birthmark on my shoulder. It actually sorta looks like Australia. Anyways, I took some concealer and covered up the birthmark. You wouldn't even know it was there.

I grabbed some notebooks, pens, and my MacBook and put them in my bag. Once I was all finished, I headed downstairs and slipped on my sandals went out the door yelling bye to Sammia. I was very nervous on my walk to school, but the walk was long enough to calm the nerves down. Our apartment is about 15 or 20 minutes from Wayne University. When I walked into view of the sign for WU, I paused and took in a big breath and gathered my thoughts. Correction, gathered my one thought: "Oh god do I wish Sam was here."

When I walked in the front door, I was so nervous I didn't even know where to go to get to my class. I finally made it, but when I walked in everyone- might I remind you the everyone who is at least 6 years younger than me- stared and I mean hard stared at me wondering what the hell I was doing there like 6 or 7 years late. The class I was in was Integration of the Basic Sciences of Medicine. After just sitting through one boring class I was already questioning whether or not to stay in med. school.

Sammia greeted me kindly when I came home after a looooongggg day.
•
"Hey Ky! How was class?? Did you learn how to cure cancer?" Sam asked eagerly. Sammia is the same age as me and is literally my other half. We are basically the same person. I have known Sam since I was 5. She moved next to us and instantly we were best buds. She is so upbeat all the time and I love that about her. After high school we got our own apartment and have been living up the poor, ramen noodle eating life.
•
"Umm no not quite. No cure for cancer yet. Maybe we'll learn that next week." I said sarcastically. Sammia laughed and went to the counter and started making some tea. I headed up stairs and sat on my bed. I opened up my laptop and it was still on the search browser for my stupid birthmark. I saw that other people had searched for like the same birthmark which is weird. There was like 3 people but instead of the Australia shape, they have like North America and Europe and oddly enough Antarctica. Like that's really weirdly stupid that were all so worried about the shape of a darker piece of skin on us. Anyways, the people's names are Lukas Stampen, Mya Cassidy, and Noah Chaster I think. They seem like nice people, I might message them about the birthmark.
