AN: quick question to whoever is reading but do any of the readers matter if there are images added into the chapters. I wasn't originally planning on it, but I can if anybody needs visuals.
Willow's Pov
Today's adoption was different than the others.
As usual, once Mr. and Mrs. Viva finished with the adoption papers, I was taken to my room to pack my clothes and other items. it didn't take much time because I didn't have many things, you don't get the chance when you are 10 and getting returned to the orphanage you just came from. Once done with that I walked down the hallways towards the staircase that lead to the foyer of the orphanage. I was escorted by Ms. Shelby towards a sleek black car with an unfinished peace sign in between the hood and grill. Mr. and Mrs. Viva were standing in front of the passenger's seat.
" This could be your final home, Willow; they were eager to see you and take you to their home," said Mrs. Shelby bending down to my level to explain to me something I knew was not going to happen. They were going to return me because that is what all the families before them have done.
With that out of the way, I walked toward the siblings with my luggage trailing behind me. I stopped in front of them waiting for either of them to say something to me that normal people would say when they adopt a child to join their family. "Hello, my name is Sonya, this is Alek my brother we have decided to adopt for a reason explained in the car."
"Do you guys live far?" I spoke staring up at both of them.
"We live a bit away, but you don't have to worry about any of that," the brother Alek said looking down at me. I liked their accents but that could be said for most American girls experiencing what I am. Their English was hard to understand at points, but I didn't mind I was still marveling at their accents and deep voices.
"As my brother said it is not fair, but we would like to get moving now so we don't arrive too late," Sonya spoke.
We all gathered in the car, with my luggage in the back with me and we were off passing the playset, and the oak trees, down the gravel road, and out into the world which I have barely explored.
4 hours have passed looking out the window in the silence of the car. I didn't mind quite the opposite I loved it. The bright lights of the city we drove through about an hour ago will forever be in my mind. Now however we were back in the woods that resembled the woods surrounding the orphanage, going down a two-lane road the only thing illuminating the road ahead were the headlights of the car. The woods outside the car were dark, and you could only see the first few layers of trees before it was all obscured by darkness. I liked looking at things like this I found it peaceful observing the thing Branches sway and trying to see between the trees to see if I could spot movement.
What brought me out of the dream that was the dark woods was the car ride getting too bumpy to be a regular road. At first, I thought it was the gravel road leading towards the orphanage, and though they were already returning me after I have done nothing but stare.
I looked towards the front of the car and saw a gravel road with intricate lamps lining the side illuminating the gardens, well-trimmed, trees, and other things that the road towards the orphanage can only dream of having.
"Is this your guy's home?" I questioned looking towards both brother and sister. I have never been this lucky. Sure, everyone that has adopted me has been varying in wealth, but this was amazing.
"It's not just our home. It is the home to many other children that have nowhere else to go and are from all around the world. This is the Belco," Sonya said staring ahead towards the home.
" Why have this?" I questioned
"Simple we want you to train in many fields to become the best you can at being a secret. We train these kids to go out into the world to become spies and assassins for hire." Alek stated.
"We get a portion of the earnings of course," Sonya stated.
"Why would you get a portion of their earnings, it's theirs, and once they leave why would they give anything back once they are gone?" I asked,
" We get some simply because we trained, sheltered, and fed them and if they don't well, we have trackers for the ones that think they are sneaky," Sonya said simply.
Alek has parked the car in front of the door, and we all got out walking towards the door. We entered the house, and it was beautiful.
Stares on either side with dark wood railings lead up towards the second floor giving people a sneak peek of the second floor. The floor was a simple tile design meant to not take away from the more eye-catching things. a long rug extended from the door towards a small table-like centerpiece with red flowers sitting on top.
"You will start your training tomorrow for now you may explore and get food," Sonya said. I've taken notice that Alek doesn't talk much, just kind of stares.
Once she said that they walked further into the house before going their separate ways to what I assume are bedrooms, but who knows.
I walked towards where Alek and Sonya were and ended up in the living room area tall ceilings, and floor to ceiling windows was the only thing I could focus on, and when I turned to the right the kitchen came into view and it was just as marvelous as the rest of the house. I walked towards the kitchen looking through the multitude of cabinets so far, I've found glasses both regular and alcohol-related, silverware, pot and pans, seasoning, and other things. After a few seconds of searching, I found some bread and peanut butter with jelly after eating I walked around more on the bottom before moving to the top floor. I was walking down a hallway thinking about all that was told to be in the last few hours when I bumped into something at first, I thought it was a wall, but then it talked.
"Who are you, and how did you get in here?" I looked up and saw a boy a few years older than me.
" Sonya and Alek adopted me earlier today. I need some help finding an available room?" I started looking up at him. These kids were future spies and assassins so I'm going to appear tough.
"Hmm, they haven't adopted another one in a while, anyway, come on there are a few bedrooms this way. Anyway, what's your name?" He questioned looking down while we walked through the halls, lined with fancy art, and tables with a variety of plants.
" My name is Willow Black, what's your, and how old are you?" I questioned.
"Name is Wade Smith pretty basic but I've lived with it, and I'm 17. they let you out of this place at 23 so I've only got a few more years. Anyway, what about your short stuff?"
" I'm 10 turning 11 in October," I voiced.
"Damn, that's only like a month away, what day? Oh, also here is going to be your room for your stay," he playfully said. I could tell from these view moments with Wade that he is an easy-going guy hard to believe that he is training to kill and spy on people. But I guess that is the point.
" The 5th, and goodnight I hope we see each other again," I stated with a nod.
"Goodnight doesn't let the bed bug bite short stuff," he said with a smile and nod. I smile back with another nod before closing the door.
From that day on the kids and young adults become family, and I trained to become the top fighter and weapon specialist in Belco. Third thanks to Wade and a girl named Kanok, she has told me she's originally from Thailand, and we became partners since we met.
AN: So that is the end of Willow's Back story and how she got started at Belco. The next chapters are going to be all about her in the present. Hope you enjoy seeimeyou next time!
