Hey yall thanks for reading. have a great time I'm open to new ideas and suggestions and almost forgot here you go my new book Our journey.

...............................................................................................................

The crisp air surrounds me. I'm standing at the edge of the abandoned No Mans Bridge. In this small town of 2 thousand in Oklahoma slightly on the border of my family's land. It's almost time for the Fourth of July fireworks I sigh to myself and take a seat on the cold concreate. In the distant I can faintly hear the laughs of other teenagers sneaking around the woods looking for a place to rid themselves of their innocence. I always found it weird how my generation could be easily persuaded. My name is Jeanette Jenkins a 19 year old college transfer student from San Diego, California.

I was your typical American but with a Hispanic background I always worked for what I wanted. I had never planned on leaving my home town, it was never the plan. Until it was the day of the homecoming football game senior year we were playing against some school from a different state. Looking back on that day I remember like it was yesterday.

It was the start of the half time celebration where all the homecoming court stood on chariots. My homecoming partner and boyfriend Daniel Parker looked handsome as ever his hazel eyes with his perfect swept hair and pearly white smile. I never imagined this would be us standing side by side me in my cheer uniform with my gold sparkling bow high as ever with my sash hanging off my shoulder and Daniel with his purple and gold football uniform looking sexy as can be.

Making our way around the track Daniel took my hand in his and whispered "Don't be nervous." You would think being a cheerleader would have given me any shred of confidence it didn't. Daniel knew me like the back of his hand he knew once I stepped into the spot light I would run. Just like the first day of cheer tryouts Daniel dropped me off but knowing me like the chicken I was once he left I dashed right out turning down hall H200 I never thought I would crash into a rock hard chest 'Daniel'

"What are you doing Jeanette?" he said looking upset

While looking at him I slid to the floor bringing my knees to my chest. "Daniel I can't do this. I know you want me to try but this just isn't me" Daniel bending down with an understanding expression

"Listen I know the spot light isn't your strong suit but remember you are always the star in my eyes I want you there for every game, every touch down, every quarter and most importantly I want you there for every moment. Don't hide. Pl-please?"

Sighing "But Dan-"

"Don't but Daniel me I want you to go in there like the strong independent girl I know and show them what you got and more ok?"

"But I-" and in that moment Daniel fiercely grabbed my face and planted the best kiss of my life on my lips just as fast as it came it was gone Daniel reluctantly placed his forehead onto mine and said "Go I'll see you in an hour I'll be waiting in my jeep"

Which brings me to my current situation now standing on the 50 yard line I hear the announcer say Daniels and my name as this year's homecoming king and queen. Daniel being Daniel surprising me in my shocked state takes the microphone from the announcer and says "Jeanette Jenkins?"

Suppressing a nervous giggle "yes?"

Looking down for moment and then looking back up quickly "I have a question but first can you hold this?" looking at him for a moment I quickly grab onto what he was holding out watching him bend down not realizing what was in my hand at the moment. Watching Daniel tie his cleats he suddenly looks up at me with the microphone placed upon his lips "Jeanette? I don't think you even know what is going on right now or what's in your hand for that matter"

looking down I see a small purple velvet box, gasping Daniel continues

" Jeanette not a day goes by where I don't replay the day how we first met. It was freshmen year you just hopped off the bus and I looked at you from afar and I knew you were the one. Not only did your beautiful smile catch my eyes and not because of how hot I thought you were but because you rejected me the second I came up to you. I knew you were the one. Looking back on how many times and ways I tried to get you to date me none of them worked until detention" in the background we can hear laughter because of his stunts " Jeanette I figured because I know how much you love the spot light I would like to know... will you marry me ?"

Trying to find my words I scrabbled into panic mode not only was I not prepared for this I couldn't help that my heart raced faster than it already was before opening my mouth to reply I can faintly hear Daniel say from his knees

"Am I the only one that's dizzy ?" Looking at him with a questioning expression "Daniel are you OK? Daniel?"

before he could even reply a firework went off just a few yards away frightening everyone in the stadium. Looking down for a split second I see Daniel on the floor convulsing taking action I picked up the microphone and called for a paramedic. By the time they arrived I had already held Daniel in my arms crying. I had previously took a nursing class with Daniel feeling for a pulse I was crushed when I didn't find one. Yelling at him

"Come back to me please... come back. I need to tell you my answer for god's sake please wake up!"

Hearing the first firework in the night sky I reluctantly look up. How torturing it is to watch fireworks when it reminds you of the last unwanted images of my late dead boyfriend.
