Sitting in the hallway of a funeral home was a young boy with blue hair, he was only about seven years old. He had just recently lost his mother, he had managed to stay strong for the sake of his younger sister, Aya. But now that he was alone, keeping his composure was difficult.
Little did he know, that very same day he would meet his guardian angel, Sogo. He had been assigned to watch over the young boy, Tamaki, a while before his mother passed. Sogo couldn't help but feel happy whenever he saw Tamaki with his mom and Aya. But today, all he could feel was the same sadness Tamaki was feeling.
Tamaki was so young, he didn't deserve to be alone during this time. So, Sogo decided to comfort him as he kneeled down in front of the boy, "I'm sorry for your loss, Tamaki.." was the first thing he said.
Tamaki sniffled and looked up at him, "W-Who are you..? A staff member?" The young boy didn't know this stranger, so of course he assumed it was a staff member. Though it still took Sogo aback, he didn't think Tamaki could see him. Well, at least it meant he could actually comfort the child. "No, I'm not staff."
"Then..a friend of my mom..?"
The angel shook his head, "I didn't know her personally..How to explain who and what I am..Hmm."
"Are you a god?"
Sogo laughed a little at that, "No, not a god either, I'm nowhere close to that. To put it simply, I'm your guardian angel. I'm meant to watch over you, keep you safe and help guide you." He pat Tamaki on the head, smiling gently to him. "For now, I'm here to comfort you."
An angel? Angels were supposed to be really nice, right? Though the moment the angel patted his head, all the tears he had been fighting back rushed out. Without hesitation, he hugged Sogo and the angel hugged him back.
"Just let it all out Tamaki..holding in your emotions isn't good, so don't hold back and cry all you need to. You have every right to be upset, no one will judge you for crying after experiencing a loss."
"But I gotta be strong..I cant cry.."
"Even the strongest of people cry sometimes, it's only natural, there's nothing wrong with it. Showing your emotions doesn't make you weak, sometimes they can make you stronger.
"B-But I'm a big boy..I have to be strong for Aya. She's too little, she doesn't understand.."
"I'm sure she'll understand one day. For now, just let all your emotions out, then you can go back to being strong. It might even give you the determination to become stronger. You're still young though, there's no need to grow up so fast."
"Thanks..um..What's your name?"
"My name is Sogo. I already know your name, Tamaki Yotsuba, but that was obvious since I said your name already."
"Thank you So-chan. You're very nice."
"Have I managed to cheer you up a little?" He pulled away from the child and ruffled his hair. Seeing Tamaki happy was better than seeing him sad. It just made him more determined to ensure Tamaki remained happy.
He sniffled again as he wiped his eyes and nodded. "You live in heaven right?"
Sogo nodded, "I'm guessing you have a request relating to your mother?"
"C-Could you let her know that we love her..and..I hope she's happy, wherever she is.."
The angel couldn't help but smile gently, even now, the child thought of others and wanted his mother to know how much they love her. He really was glad he got chosen to watch over Tamaki. Unlike other angels who would probably refuse this sort of request, he wasn't about to.
