Marinette as Rapunzel

Chapter 6: Reunions

"NO!" A new voice shouted and Lila faltered in her magic. They all turned to the source and saw Marinette standing at the entrance to the ballroom.

Bridgette? Gabriel and Emilie thought.

Bridgette? No. Marinette. Felix thought as he felt a sense of calm wash over him for she looked just like her late mother.

"That's impossible. You shouldn't be here." Lila said in shock.

"You kept me locked in a tower because you hated my father?" Marinette said.

"He deserved to suffer as I did." Lila said.

"No! No more suffering! For anybody!" Marinette shouted.

"Do you really think that you can stop me?" Lila laughed.

"Maybe not alone but I have a mighty dragon on my side." Marinette said as Plagg made his presence known.

"A mighty dragon? Ha! I see a sniveling goose." Lila laughed.

"Oh so scary." Volpina said with a sneer. "Did you bring that little creature along as well because I'm ready for an appetizer."

"Fire away, Plagg." Tikki said as she popped up on Marinette's shoulder. Plagg blew fire and scorched Volpina. Volpina then scampered off in fear.

"Marinette!" Lila called out. "You and your friends won't live to see the next sunrise." She said as she started to form some magic in her hands. Adrien knocked over a vase that he rolled over to Lila. It ended up tripping her and she ended up knocking down the chandelier. It crashed to the ground and it set the ballroom on fire.

"Marinette! Run!" He shouted from the other side of the flames.

"Come on." Marinette said and Plagg shrank and hitched a ride on Marinette's shoulders with Tikki as they ran out into the gardens. Lila chased them all the way down to the painting that she had made of the tower. Marinette ran into the room and as soon as Lila tried to follow her, Marinette closed the door in her face and Lila ended up back in tower as Volpina followed her.

As soon as Lila realized where she was, all of her spells broke save for one. She tried to undo the spell but found that not only that it wasn't releasing her, she couldn't remove her own spell. She was trapped. She called out to Fu, who was now free, and he revealed that Marinette had never lied and that he didn't have any power to undo the spell, nor would he want to. He then flew off.

Felix helped Gabriel and his men douse out the fire. "I have to find Marinette." Adrien said. He then ran towards the front doors only to stop when she came running into the room.

"Are you alright?" Marinette asked.

"I am now." Adrien replied as they took a step towards each other.

"Marinette?" Felix called out and they stopped and looked at him.

"Father." Marinette said and she ran over and hugged him.

"I thought you were gone forever." Felix said.

"All of these years, I thought I was alone." Marinette said.

"I never stopped loving you. My love is as constant as..."

"...Constant as the stars above." Marinette finished.

"If only Bridgette were still..."

"I know dad. I had heard everything." Marinette sighed as she broke the hug.

"You look just like her." Felix then stated and Adrien could see his parents vigorously nodding their heads. He then turned to them. "Gabriel, Emilie, I don't even know where to begin. I've wronged you all of these years."
