TWO CHILDREN OF THE PROS: DEAD.

SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED?

Headline after headline pushed Marie Kendrick's brain to spin figure-eights within her skull. She felt sick, a lingering feeling of unease remained in the pits of her abdomen.

How could she let this happen?

How would she threaten her career like this? Her reputation would never recover.

It was approaching 3 am, and after hours of pacing—Marie took a seat in her office, alone. Her office headquarters were located in the town centre at Saseendi's hero agency; where hundreds of minor heroes worked below her. She had a team and department for everything: management of her social media, sidekick recruitment (not that she needed one), mass media censorship, even costume design. They had failed her. The news got out. And it was worse than she could have ever predicted. The death of Endeavor's son only drew more attention to her own situation. All eyes were on her (and Endeavor). She spun her chair around to face her desk so she could rest her arms on the surface. Her forehead fell to the solid desk at once with a bang.

It was a news notification that snapped her back to an upright position.

Her agency was doing nothing to stop the spread of these articles. But now, it was far too late for that. And for all she knew, her daughter never even died that night.

The painful truth was eating away at her. There were no remains.

She never found a body; so blinded by rage, she never thought to check. Y/n was still alive, and she knew it.

She'd never tell anyone, of course. For, what would her daughter say when the authorities questioned her? When they questioned how her house really burnt to the ground that night. They would ask her why she burnt the house to ash, why she hated her mother so much that she burnt her family home down.

Since that is the story Saseendi told them.

In gruesome detail—she built a story upon lies and utter disgust for her daughter. A story where her innocent, unassuming and pristine daughter goes rogue, lashing out at her family like the demon she is. Like the monstrous entity and predatory hell-send that the doctor supposedly described her to be. It was an exaggeration entirely; one that Saseendi deemed simply necessary to save herself— or more importantly; her reputation and her place in the ranks. And although her lie was so delicately crafted, the authorities restricted this story from being released to the public. For, it would only spark chaos and mass terror. How could just a child do this? They would speculate. People would begin to fear what quirks were truly capable of. They would fear for what our future could become when quirks continued to spread and advance. Selective reproduction was becoming exceptionally popular within pro hero households— powerful families were breeding for the sole purpose of undefeatable offspring. The result being: far more powerful quirks. And when these powerful children have children of their own—the cycle simply continues.
