"Jiminie please! we need to hurry before they get to us, we're making too much noise!" Taehyung pleaded through his teeth. Jimin glanced down one last time and winced in concern. He had a bandage covering the bite on Jungkook's limp, bloody shoulder. The infection didn't seem to have spread yet, but he knew it would be worse if they stayed out there any longer. "We can't just leave him here Taehyung! He might die!" Jimin said frantically, tightening his grip on Jungkook's jacket. The devastated boy was shaking slightly, his eyes wide with fear, he seemed close to tears. Taehyung sighed, reaching out a hand to take Jimin's into his own. "He won't die Jimin, we'll come back for him once it's safer out here," he whispered back. "For now, I dont't want to loose you too." With that, they both began running.
DAYBREAK: Day 1
That day was a monday evening in mid April, everyone was getting ready to leave school. There were some people going home early to go out and have fun at the annual school carnival, while others would stay behind to finish all their homework. It was only 5 pm, many were looking forward to the spring carnival. It wasn't everyday the school poured all their savings on fun stations and shows taking place at the school's fairgrounds.
In class 12, Jimin was one of those who stayed behind to work on his homework for another hour after the bell rang, he wasn't planning on leaving until his last minute assignment was finished. He wasn't the type to engage in social activities. His classmates had left first, since most of them were already packed up and ready to go.
While Jimin worked on his assignment in the dimly lit classroom where occasional loud voices could be heard coming from rebellious kids below his grade in the hallways. The atmosphere had an eerie feeling, a feeling Jimin couldn't quite put his finger on, but he decided to shrug it off. It was probably Jimin's paranoia that was getting the best of him, after all, he was really interested in true crime documentaries.
He continued working on his homework as if nothing happened. Until there was an obnoxious sound coming from outside the windows, something that caused a bunch of birds to fly inside the room, causing Jimin to jump and drop his pencil onto the floor. Just as he was about to look out the window to see where the noise was coming from, the sky started roaring with thunder and pouring rain. The windowsill began to collect puddles of water as Jimin groaned in annoyance, "how am I suppose to get home now, the weather forecast never said there will be rain." Leaving him with no time to figure out a way to get home in the pouring rain, he heard loud voices downstairs in the hallway "What the hell was that?" Jimin said, sounding pissed.
Jimin quickly sprinted across the room to the door, peeking his head in the hallways, and saw a boy running down the hallway, looking like he'd just seen something scary. This person looked around the same age as Jimin, he had dark, messy hair that covered half of his face. If Jimin wasn't mistaken, that was the boy from a class 11, a grade below him. Jeon Jungkook. The guy he despised the most as he had always tried picking on him because of his short stature. Jimin watched, farrowing his eyebrows as the boy frantically ran to the stairs, trying to get down to the first floor.
As Jungkook's sillouette disappeared, Jimin began hearing more and more running and screaming echoing inside the school building.
The sound of thunder and rain sounded even louder, as a sudden gust of wind blew through the halls. A loud boom of lightning illuminated the area and made Jimin cover his ears.As he stood in front of the windows watching the stormy sky, a loud static coming from the broadcasting speakers echoed throughout the school, followed by a series of loud crashes and shouts. Jimin flinched. "Attention all students of Sankoh High School! We have received reports that the school vicinity has been experiencing strange phenomena within the past few hours, this phenomenon is centered around our school, and the surrounding areas. Students should remain calm and not engage in any type of contact, if you see anything strange or unusual do NOT approach it. I repeat, DO NOT APPROACH IT!" The voice boomed and was soon replaced by a steady stream of sirens in the distance.
After the broadcast has ended, Jimin took a deep breath and slowly let it out before looking down the hallway in both directions, still unsure about what exactly was going on. He was too afraid to walk outside the school gates and risk having to run into some monster. So for his own sake in mind, he went back into his seat in his classroom, waiting to hear the next announcement regarding the supernatural phenomena.
Jimin stared at the minute hand on the clock as each minute of eeriness passed.
The more Jimin waiting for the announcements, the quieter the school grounds became. He felt his chest tighten harder as each second went by. He didn't know what could've caused such a big commotion so close to his school, it was almost unheard of for large groups of supernatural things to roam around campus without anyone noticing. It's not like his house was very far away from the school, only a few minutes walking, but this had never happen before. He couldn't help but feel anxious. The fact that he was all alone made it worse, no one would stay behind for a small evening study session when there's an annual school carnival. And even then, nobody would stay for long, especially with all the loud commotion and strange weather conditions.
No one else was here, besides himself, which meant no one to keep him company. He felt completely isolated and scared, and it was starting to become more evident to him than ever that he wasn't ready to leave Sankoh. But he did needed to, otherwise, his parents would worry if they found out. Just then, he received a notification. He unlocked his phone and glanced at the new text message from his class group chat
[Kim Taehyung]: Guys, do you have any idea what's happening?? I just watched someone get attacked on campus at the carnival. [sent 6:17]
A couple of seconds passed, he hadn't heard from anyone else. Was it just him? Were they all at the carnival too and got attacked by monsters? Did he imagine the whole thing?
Suddenly he was startled by a loud, ear splitting scream ringing through the school halls. As quick as the scream came it faded to silence, leaving Jimin in absolute shock. The screams stopped abruptly. "What the heck?!" Jimin whispered-yelled frantically, contemplating whether or not if he should just pack up his things and go home.
[Kim Taehyung]: guys, I don't know how to tell you this. Everyone witnessed it, people are being attacked at the carnival right now. It sounds crazy, but i swear it's true. It was like a flash flood and the person was swept away. They could have gone anywhere, we're probably gonna have to evacuate the school... [sent 6:23]
Another notification came in shortly afterwards, this time from his mother.
