Aoi and I have reached our destination and we part as I go into the principal's office.
I'm greeted by an elderly man who I'm assuming is the principal. He's sitting behind a desk with stacks of paper on it. somehow it looks messy and organized at the same time.
"L/n y/n, correct?" He asks.
His voice sounds warm and friendly but im still not used to the sound of Japanese.
"Yes," I answer.
"It's great to meet you L/n-san! Take a seat."
He nods towards a chair on the opposite side of the table.
After I'm sat he starts explaining the exchange student plan to me.
I'll be staying in an empty clubroom at the school. My luggage is already there. I'm free to use the kitchens, bathrooms, and changing room whenever. I can get free lunch in the cafeteria by showing a pass I have to get here, in his office, when school ends.
I can also come and go to the school as I please, though there are some obvious restrictions for when I'm alone at school.
And I am apparently starting school today.
After he finished talking a teacher came in and introduced himself as Nagisa.
I am now currently walking to class 1-A with him trying to come up with an introduction for my new class
So...I say my name right? Yes. Good. What else? I'm a foreigner? They probably already know that. I should mention the fact I can't read or write Japanese too.
I can see my class now
I honestly can't tell if im excited or nervous right now. Both?
I swear, if I fuck up my introduction I'll die.
Nagisa takes a couple of extra steps so that he enters the classroom before me.
"Good morning everyone!" He greets the class.
My eyes search for a specific person and we accidentally make eye contact.
"As you might know this is our exchange students' first day. This is L/n Y/n"
I'm met by an uncomfortable amount of curious looks.
Oh right I should probably introduce myself
"Uh, my name is L/n Y/n."
Wow. Totally did not see that coming.
"I would write my name but I can only speak Japanese, not read or write. If I make any mistakes please bear over with me! Thank you so much for having me!"
I bow after finishing my sentence
Is that what you say?? Did I mess up?
"Thank you L/n-san, you can have a seat over there."
Nagisa points to an empty seat and I awkwardly walk to it and sit down.
Nagisa starts talking about something I don't quite catch. For the next classes im honestly not listening enough to remember any of it.
It feels so strange that I'm actually here in this classroom. This classroom that was supposed to be fictional, with these characters who were supposed to be fictional.
My seat is one row from the very back, so I have a good view of everyone else.
I try to spot the people I know. Read about?
The most noticeable is Aoi. I can also see Nene and Akane. I think Lemon is behind me.
I wonder if Hanako and Nene have met yet.
My life would be complete if I saw the hairstyling scene irl.
Me and Nene's eye contact pops into my head and I cringe.
I hope me and her become friends.
My thoughts drift around like this for god knows how long until I hear the bells ring.
After ringing my brain automatically starts playing Kagamine Len and I laugh at my own stupid joke.
Everyone has packed and I'm assuming they're going to the cafeteria to eat lunch.
I stand up too, not really knowing what to do.
I've talked to like one person - cough cough Aoi - and I don't know where anything is. Can I count on anyone to help me out with this?
My question is answered when I see Aoi walking towards me and Nene a little further behind.
"Hi, L/n-san! this is Yashiro Nene!" She gestures toward Nene, and she waves.
"We're going to the cafeteria, do you want to come?"
"Oh, uh, yes, sure!" I answer
WE MET
Okay. Keep your shit together. Don't fuck this up.
"Thank you!" I add.
Aoi smiles at me.
We walk out of the classroom together.
I'm walking a little behind the two.
It feels so odd that im taller than the majority of the people I walk by. This also gives me a lot of attention though.
Aoi and Nene are whispering to each other.
I wonder if I should say anything? Or just like let them do their thing. I'll just go with number two.
Okay, now when I'm really here I agree with everyone who called Nene's ankles fat...holy shit.
We reach the cafeteria and take a seat.
It's crowded but not so crowded it's uncomfortable.
"Did you bring your own lunch L/n-san?" Aoi asks as she and Nene take out a lunchbox each.
"Ah, no I didn't," I answer
"You can buy some over there if you'd like."
She gestures to a queue behind her that I'm assuming is waiting to buy food
"Yea, about that, I kind of forgot to bring money too," I chuckle.
I don't have any money...
