It was the last day of the summer and Lauren and Taylor were walking in a meadow on their way to their dance class. The sun was starting to set on their little town called Crystalbay. Lauren looked over at Taylor. Admiring her smile. The way her long blonde hair tumbles down her back. Her eyes, so full of joy and happiness. Her flowing skirt rustling in the wind, looking glorious on her legs. Then she looked down at herself. Her not-so-long brown hair sitting around and below her shoulders. Her denim shorts sticking tightly to her not-so-glorious legs. She had a feeling that her smile and eyes didn't look so good either. Lauren couldn't believe how someone like her could be best friends with someone as beautiful and flawless as Taylor. She often had these thoughts, when around her.
"What are you staring at?" asked Taylor, giving her a little shove.
"Nothing." replied Lauren, shoving her back.
"You know, I don't want anything to change between us when we start high school. I just want it to be us, like it always has been. No one else."
Lauren stopped and looked at her friend. "Really?".
"Of course!" answered Taylor. "So, do you promise to stay as my best friend, sister and classmate throughout our time at Crystalbay high?"
"I promise.". They both hugged and ended up falling down on the meadow, laughing.
Lauren hoped they would both stay true to the promise.

Taylor's POV
Later at dance when we are warming up, I see Lauren staring into space, distracted. Not like herself at all. So I wander over to the bar after I've put my shoes on to talk to her.
"Hey." I say.
"Oh. Hi." mumbles Lauren, still staring into space, as if she hasn't noticed I'm there.
"Hellooooooo?" I say, worried. "What's the matter with you, are you ok?". Lauren finally looks at me, her eyes glassy, nearly in tears.
"Oh Lauz." I bring her in for a hug. Mrs Meadwell notices something is wrong so tells us to go back in the changing room for some privacy. I stand there hugging my friend as she weeps onto my shoulder. What seems like an hour later, Lauren looks up at me.
"See I knew you weren't ok. What's wrong?" I ask.
She sniffs "I don't know, everything's just so hard at the moment. I felt so happy on the way here but now I'm freaking out about tomorrow. What if we're not in the same class? What if we get separated? What if your new friends don't like me? What if my new friends don't like you? What if......".
"Shhhh." I interrupt. "There is no point in worrying Lauz. If my new friends don't like you then they're not my real friends. And no one will stand between us. Trust me on this, we will always be friends. Remember the promise?".
"Friends forever." smiles Lauren, under her tears.
"Friends forever." I repeat.

Hi guys! So this is the first chapter of my new story 'a ballerinas tale'. I wrote it because many people experience things like this when starting high school, including me. Sometimes friends drift apart but it doesn't matter because you can always make new ones, I've experienced this. So to all of the people in the world experiencing this now don't worry because eventually you will find that person who becomes so close to you it is weird. Hope you enjoy!
Good bye from ballet shoes❤️
