It was an early winter morning as usual in the mountainside Village of Yore on the few untouched dragonborn settlements away from mankind. A blue dragonborn somewhere in his later teens would be hauling a dead mountain sheep on his shoulder. Bloody hatchet in the other hand as he would soon enter a small cobblestone/wooden house.
A building made by his father before he had left for the war his eldest child Jinborn had become the man of the house. Taking responsibility for his mother and little sister Shakiri. The golden dragonborns blue eyes easily seen in the dark of the hut as she watched her older brother from the nearby doorway
"Its early sister, you shouldn't be awake yet but here you are" Jinborn would chuckle as he threw logs in the pit. Moving to the kitchen past his sister as he would begin to prepare the ram. Shakiri would move to the logs, the pre teen dragon born spitting fire into the pit. The fire crackling to life as she would turn to see her brother smiling to her as he had the cookware
"Thank you shakiri" He would smile as she nodded to him. The blue dragonborn setting up the cooking spit as he would begin cooking several steaks for breakfast as it usually helped mother wake when food was being prepared.
Shakiri still waking up as it was quite early for her, but she wanted to spend time with her brother as he was usually at work during the later day. But the girl had something to get off her chest, looking to her brother.
"Why won't you let me hunt with you, im good with a club and i can almost run as fast as you" She would say and immediately regret it as Jinborns yellow eyes glared at her. He always said the same thing
"Because if you get hurt its my fault, when you can outrun me is when you can hunt with me" he said as the two knew until she grew more he would always beat her. The sounds of soft footsteps came from the resting room as their golden mother came into the fire area. Sitting beside her daughter as she would look to Jinborn, his glare now focused at the cooking ram
"You know, i believe Jinborn gets off work early today. Why not race him then?" Their mother would compromise as the two would nod.
"Today I'll win" Shakiri said with confidence before she would stand. Headed to the resting area to gather her clothes, looking to her fathers steel zweihander above the fireplace she had helped him make. Taking the locket he had given her from under her pillow, putting it around her neck as she would feel the warmth from the locket. Remembering what her father told her, "whenever you feel the warmth of the locket i will be wearing mine. That way you know im safe, and I'll know you and your mother are safe" smiling to herself. As it was comforting. Trying to reach the blade above the fire as she was still to short, but one day she would get ahold of it and show her brother she could be helpful.
After breakfast, The blue dragonborn would have to rush off to work in the village as all men did. Shakiri coming to hug her brothers leg as he left, he laughed and hugged her back. Her mother and shakiri waving him away as they would begin to prepare to do what the women of the village did while the men were away. Heading to the mill as they would prepare clothing, repair armor and other garments. Preparing for when the military troop would return battered and in need of better equipment, shakiri being put on sewing duty. Barely able to contain herself as she would be fixing some leather armor. Her head snapping up as a horrible scream made everyones heads turn toward the Northside of the village. The men rushing out in a panic as the sound of horsehooves beat from the entrance of the village only meaning one thing. Man was coming for another raid, Shakiri trying to put the armor on in front of her before her mother would come to jerk it off of her. The women knowing the procedure as they rushed into the cellar, barring the door as the sound of battle was muffled...
