As she (Dr. Shreya) entered the end of corridor to check upon his only patient which she got today, on her first Day at work. She just walked through the corridor ignoring pain in her head which inauguration ceremony caused her. The patient, for whom she was on her way toward, she found him during inauguration, almost six hours earlier, when he was hiding himself under her table in the garden, where the ceremony was held.
She was listening to some goal oriented lectures, introduction of staffs and between lectures some enthusiastic opinions of department head persons and long boring talks on how in short while this place can achieve its heights. By looking at them she could say that they had to gather words for their lectures from the internet.
"All talks, only"- she murmured getting bored with put up of these well suited gentlemen and few ladies....She then tried stretching her legs under the table and they struck into someone, someone who was in room 129, someone for whom she was on her way through the corridor and at last she turned to door. A off white gate with golden plate on which crafted with black "129".
She open that door and her eyes hassled over the wall in front. All encrypted with black wax with three letters. The language written was familiar, those were english alphabets but her mind couldn't processed those. At least not immediately.
All over the wall, randomly covered with those three letters, someplace in harmony and then others scattered. Straight and directionless also, it was a web.
It did surprised her and she took a step back in reaction. A reaction not a response. The view made her heart pump faster and faster and then her eyes started searching for the man whom she left inside a little while ago. And that was the response.
A sudden strike into her left shoulder she felt, which made lose her balance on her feet and gave her stabbing pain. That man inside had made his way out pushing strongly on her shoulders, that made her back strike against tiles on the floor, he ran and ahead half in corridor he stopped, he turned, his slow running gave her enough time to adjust herself in a sitting posture on floor... yet not strengths to got up at first thought of getting up, she was relieved seeing him safe and out.
She found fear into his eyes, she wanted to console him and tried getting up holding door handle. As she was still struggling and pain in her arm, legs and head have come into sense and she felt blind, she tapped her head, at back, trice, to gain her consequences back and she could hear his laughters. Echoing in corridor, soon a shriek come out of him and he started crying, he was looking at her and he was feared, as if he was imagining a monster into her.
She took a step ahead and he turned his back in his trials of escaping but failed and fell down, as she was walking ahead he started crawling on floor. She stopped to make sure what he was running from was really her or not and found him looking on her back. The thought of somebody's presence behind her gave her shiver and yet she turned back. Here she failed as a shrink, she couldn't stop herself from entering the world of maniacs, world of mixture of lies and reality.....and that's her failure as a shrink...she convinced herself on that 'without entering how am I suppose to bring him out of it', so it's fine.'
Nothing was there as she told herself before turning and she could hear his footsteps running down the corridor and screams of few staff members from ground floor. He flew away.
She had some time to recover and she gave out a big sigh, she calmed herself down and neglected her pain. She turned toward and had decided to inspect "129".
This time when she looked at messy wall she wasn't as troubled as she was at first glance to it. She tried to broke code into those words and took a look around, nothing except of wall was out of ordinary into that room. She walked out and closed the door.
She asked over phone for help and write a request at counter on ground floor-....
~ the ground floor
Abhishek Sinha was name of that simple and extra polite voice that came from the other side of counter and that made her interest into the identity of the person. She sneaked for his name on his ID card that was hanging down his neck. She gave him form back after filling, he read the complain- "129 needs some colours back on its wall" - not so formal complain has been registered by her without filling other details on the form. As he tried calling her from back to fill her details, clock passed five and she stepped out. It was time to change their shifts, night staff will take over. He just placed the plain uncompleted complain under his paperweight on his desk and gathered his things into a black side bag which he tugged around his right arm.
He was about to leave from his desk for his quater (apartment) and his eyes landed on single paper over his desk, it was making him uneasy and he just opened his right drawer and put that into it. He recalled image of her leaving from the asylum and he noticed her trembling walk this time. Thinking hard about it also reminded him of bruises on her hand and a deep cut around her elbow. He wondered what had happened actually. It was already enough odd that she had something to complain about on the first day. He turned back and one of the staff from same age as him called his name. He asked if he wanted to walked together toward the staff quater houses.
Abhishek didn't wanted to refuse a convenient offer, yet he did and turned hurried toward his drawer and took that paper out. The other person- Kailash Mishra, has not accepted rejection yet. He was wondering how can one get this much busy on his first day. Abhishek got his attention and he looked at him in surprised.
"What happened?..you want any help?"- asked Kailash.
"129, 129.." - "129 it's" said Abhishek in response and come out putting that paper back where it was. "Can you come with me to 129?"..."I mean if you want to, just five minutes it'll take and after that we can go together..?"- Abhishek was sorry for taking advantage of him.
"Sure" Kailash replied.
They went there and both stood in front by off white door with golden plate on which with black was written 129.
Abhishek had clue of encountering something trouble and he carefully pressed the lever down, his instinct stopped him doing that giving himself a second chance but then he was already there. He prepared himself and pushed door ajar.
Both stun...by the encryption on the wall. The wall of 129 sure need some colours back on it.
Abhishek still motionless standing there and a hand from his left grew to reach the lever on the door and shut that closed in front of him. He gulped down his saliva and turned to Kailash who suggested leaving the place and so they did.
Abhishek's mind still filled with that language of three alphabets, which says....
NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ, NUЯ.....
(The code said - "RUN")
