Leonard was scowling at nothing...
"As handsome as you look with that intense look on your cute face, what's gotten you scowling?" Smiling lovingly at her boyfriend, Camille had taken a seat on his lap, and Leonard breathed deeply as he pulled her closer; his mind racing.
"Something is bothering me, Cami. Doctor Lefevre, she... How do I put it... The way she is with Avis baffles me. I can not understand the woman... When Avis is resting, she refuses to leave her side and stays up the whole night to make sure she's okay. But as soon as Avis wakes up, she disappears and only returns when it's time for her routine inspection... I feel like I am missing something." Camille always knew her boyfriend was a smart cookie, it made her love him even more, and this time was no different because Leonard was indeed right.
"I love it when you dive into your detective mode and start brooding. You look so handsome... And you are right. I can tell you that much. There's history between those two, at least one-sided, but I'm not sure if I can disclose anything other than that without betraying Renee." With her heart full of love, Camille had kissed her boyfriend, and Leonard would have smiled if he didn't realize what his girlfriend meant.
"So, it is true... Doctor Lefevre has feelings for Avis. Fucking Dieter and his accurate theories." As pleased and hopeful as Leonard was after learning that, he was also bitter that the old men knew before he did, and Camille looked at him wide-eyed; shocked.
"Dieter knows? How? And you can not tell Renee that you know, Leonard. That woman is scary when she's angry. She conducts the most complicated surgeries on any cadaver she can find to pass her time and - trust me - Renee knows how to kill someone as well as how to save them." Camille was panicking, the fear in her eyes making him laugh, and Leonard kissed her sweetly; groaning when he heard someone taking a seat on the other couch.
Dieter looked smug while Kurt watched him proudly...
"Little birdy had a talk with the Doctor and she has not moved for over an hour now." Kurt knew his husband wasn't a talkative one so he spoke for him, explaining the reason he looked so proud, and Leonard pursed his lips while Camille looked around to make sure Renee was not lingering around like she usually was.
"Fine, ya huge bastard. You were right. The angry Doctor does like our Avis-- But do not even think about meddling with their business. I am warning you." Leonard had known the old men long enough to know they had a thing for love stories, the huge men were the biggest saps and the reason he had managed to win Camille back, but his words only made Dieter smirk.
"Forgive me, Laddie. I tried. But me Bubba can be very persuasive." Kurt apologized, a certain shyness to the very way he spoke, and before Leonard could ask them what he had done, Celyn approached them on her crutches.
"What is it?" Celyn had asked once she got settled, rubbing her aching leg to ease the pain, and Dieter placed his large hand on Kurt's thigh to let him know he could speak while Leonard clenched his jaw; unsure.
"It has been over two weeks since we left, laddie, and Bubba and I were thinking... We want to go back home, little bird. There is a ship leaving in two days and an old friend got us three tickets. We could go home, look after the lasses, and make sure everything is alright and then, once it's safe, we can come and get you, too." Kurt had repeated the words his husband fed him, knowing it was all lies, and while Leonard gawked at Dieter, Celyn looked thoughtful.
"It actually does not sound like a bad idea. Even if the Romans are still out there, they will be looking for me and not you. Staying away from me will only ensure your safety." Celyn mumbled lowly, her words making Leonard scowl, and Dieter gave him a stern look when he knew he was about to object.
