"Jackie, are you packed?" Yelled Jackies mom from downstairs; she was loading suitcases into the car and needed Jackie's.
"Coming, Mom!" She yelled back. She added a few more minor things, zipped her suitcase up, and carried it down the stairs, which was very hard.
After struggling, she pulled her wand out of her boot and mumbled a levitation spell at the suitcase. It floated slightly, and as she walked down the stairs, it followed. She sat it down at the bottom, put her wand back in her boot, and pulled it to the car. It wasn't hard for her to pack, but the few things she did take out, like spellbooks and other magic-related items, she had to put back. Her mom hauled the suitcase into the trunk and headed back in to get Jackie's dad.
She sat in the car and opened up her phone, "Hey Mage, how long does it take to get from Florida to Germany?" She said to her phone.
Mage was the magical version of Google but also dealt with magical stuff.
"Average direct flight time is 9 hours 28 minutes." It responded.
Jackie groaned, 9 and a half hours on a plane, great, she thought sarcastically as she banged her head against the headrest.
Her parents entered the car, and her dad said, "What's wrong hun?" As he caught sight of his daughter's annoyed mood.
"9 and a half hours to Germany? Seriously? Could we not have chosen a closer school?" She doesn't like planes; she gets air sick and can only be on one for about two hours without needing to vomit.
"This is a great school; you are going, and you will be okay on the plane. Just go to the bathroom to do it." Her mom responded, she didn't like the thought of hurling, so she didn't say it.
"Anyways, it will be totally worth it." Her dad said, climbing into the driver's seat and buckling.
She rolled her eyes, her dad sighed, and her mom fixed her makeup. She was allowed to do minor things like roll her eyes; her parents say it's because they feel bad that they are taking away parts of her childhood for magic. They found out that not having friends wasn't good for her mental health as she is lonely when she got herself into counseling when she kept falling asleep in the third grade.
They started driving when Jackie's phone buzzed; it was from the mystery boy she met online. He was her only friend. They knew each other's genders, ages, favorite color and animal, and when each other are free. They don't know each other's names, looks, and address (Jackie doesn't even have one). But they know each other's secrets, or at least some. Like he knew that she traveled a lot, she knew that he has an obsession with wolves.
Mystery boy- I have a question 🤔
Jackie- What?
Mystery boy- So since we have been friends for almost two years, I think we can share our names and where we live.
Jackie- OK, I am settling down in Germany for a school, and my parents are still going to travel. The school has dorms so I will be staying there all year but going back to my parents for summer.
Mystery boy- Oh! I live in Germany! I can speak a little bit of the language, but maybe we will run into each other!
Jackie- Oh! That's cool, so what's your name?
Mystery boy- My name is Tony, what's yours?
Jackie went in and changed his contact name.
