ON YOUR OWN
Walking amidst a huge crowd
With strangers all around,
You look at all the crazy activities
But you don't really see.
You are walking with your friends around
But lost in your own world,
Because there are days when you can't connect,
Days when your closest friends are mere acquaintances.
Because there are those feelings, those thoughts, those secrets,
That you keep hidden deep within your soul.
You are scared they'll judge you
For something over which you have no control.
You roam around aimlessly, guided by those friends,
Pushed around by the crowd becauase you couldn't care less.
The vendors are shouting, the cars are honking, the kids are screaming their lungs out
But all you can hear is the faint buzz
Of your own chain of thoughuts.
The street looks beautiful with those christmas lights that are shining so bright.
The glittery hoardings stand so tall that they seem to reach the sky.
People strut around in costumes as if its halloween
But all you can see is the harsh reality behind it all
Making all of this so surreal.
As time goes by, your friends wander away,
Bored by your indifference
And when you open your eyes,
You see yourself standing in the middle of a deserted road
No shops, no coustumes, no kids.
Just you, with the truth
That struck you so hard
You were blown
Because you realised that in the end,
You truly are on your own.
