Subpart {t w o}

It was a month after Bee and I had that fight. After that night, Bee found me on the couch asleep the next morning. They held me and apologized - they apologized for raising their voice, not being mature about the situation and not telling me about the person. Bee said they would make it up to me later. I guess that later had come.

-----

Bee and I finally had a day off together again. We would have a date night and then spend the entire day together the next day, as that was the day off.  Bee said that we were going to a fine dining restaurant. So, I dressed nicely. My hair was out as a sign of strength. I wore a dress, drenched in wine. A long trench coat to protect me - love stayed within and negativity was blocked out. I slipped on boots and walked out to wait for Bee to finish getting ready. I sat on the couch and read a book as I waited. I had a feeling tonight was going to be special, so I made sure to sneak a box into my bag while Bee wasn't looking.

-----

"Thank you," I said as Bee opened the door for me. I walked through and a lady greeted us. Her chocolate hair was slicked back into a bun, and her smile was bright. She led us to a table that was next to a large window. There were small buildings stretched out beyond the horizon, and lights filled up the night.

Bee and I had chats while we ate, some talked about the past and all the hardships we faced. We talked about the cute moments that meant a lot to us. Then we talked about the present, what we were enjoying and catching up. We moved on to the future; we talked about work, and then we talked about plans just as we finished eating. "That reminds me," Bee said and stood up. They reached into their pocket and knelt on one knee. Their eyes locked deeply into mine and tears formed in my eyes. They made me cry again, but for a different reason. Bee pulled out a box and opened it. "My love, I know we have faced multiple hardships together. I know I have been dishonest with you, and I will explain that right after this. We have spent 4 years together, and I think I know what I want by now. I want you, but not just as mine; but as mine forever. Love, will you marry me?" Bee looked into my eyes with desperation and love, and I couldn't form any words.
  "Yes," I managed to say after I stopped crying. Bee smiled happily and carefully took the ring but before they were able to put it on, I shook my head laughing.
  "Why are you laughing?" I reached into my purse and pulled out a box as well; I mimicked them.
  "Bee, I know we have faced multiple hardships together. We have spent 4 years together, and I think I know what I want by now. I want you, but not just as mine; but as mine forever. Love, will you marry me?" I copied their words and they laughed. Bee nodded and laughed so much as tears fell dripped down our cheeks. We mirrored each other.

We moved together into an embrace, one that held love, trust, comfort and hope. We were a bond so strong. Our rings were a sign of our love story. The people around the restaurant clapped so loudly I was brought back to reality; I was so focused on Bee I forgot about everyone else.
  "Okay, now explain." I quickly pressed my lips against theirs before moving back to my seat.
  "Okay, so. When you saw me that day, I was with this person I met online. I know this sounds bad, but listen. My friend from work introduced me to them because they were selling engagement rings. I arranged with them to look at what they sold, and I was so happy when I found one. I came home that day knowing that I made the right decision, you just happened to find out a bit early. I truly am sorry for being mad, I just tried to hide the fact that I was going to propose. I guess it's funny, though, because you were going to propose as well." When I looked back at the moment, it made so much sense. I laughed when I looked back at that memory. The whole perspective changed.
  "That makes so much more sense." I chuckled.

We were on the way home after a big event. Bee and I decided to go for a walk in the forest. I looked down at our hands. They were intertwined into one, the light illuminating the scene. The ring shone under the light. I smiled; I was complete.
