Hi! This is my first attempt at fanfic so please be gentle, but let me know your thoughts! All constructive criticism welcome! The beginning of this story takes place in the summer of 2016 ish. Ages of the guys are what they would've been then (summer 2016).
Touch down in South Korea! I still cannot believe that instead of of my dream trip to Paris....I'm going to Seoul!!! My dream of seeing an IDOL in person might come true in the next couple weeks. I closed my eyes, imaging catching a glimpse of Sana or Jihyo from TWICE doing a photoshoot for an upcoming music video. Could I be so lucky to come across a member of two from BTS while exploring the streets of Seoul? I smile to myself.
"What's that smile for?"
Busted. I open my eyes and sneak a glance over at Jordan, my best friend. She's a petite blonde with perfect skin, hazel eyes, and long legs. You'd think she was a cheerleader, but nope. Furthest from in fact. She's actually a band geek like me, plays the Alto Saxophone to be exact. We've known each other since birth pretty much. Our mothers have been friends their whole lives, which in turn meant that we would also be best friends.
I turn my head to look back out the window while doing an overhead stretch. "I'm just so happy to finally be here! The flight was over 30 hours....or did you forget that?"
"As if I could forget...you were so nice to remind me every hour on the hour. Why you ask? Because you were awake almost the ENTIRE time." She rolled her eyes at me and continued, "Everyone else might believe that bullshit answer, but you cannot fool me. Your grandpa doesn't call you Sneaky Pete for nothing."
I cocked my head to the side. "Who told you he calls me that?"
"Remember when I mowed the grass at your house all last summer?"
I thought for a minute. "Yeah, that was one of the ways you raised the money for this trip. Right?"
She nodded. "Yes, it was. But there was another teeny tiny request for Aunt Kaye (what Jordan calls my mom)."
My eyebrows raised. "Oh yeah? And what was that?"
"She just had to swear on your life to tell me anything hilarious that I can use against you as blackmail later in life if I need something."
Not that my Grandpa's pet nickname for me is awful. It could totally be worse. He says he first called me that because I'm pretty adept at getting what I want; I think it's because I internalize all my emotions until I burst. Considering that childhood nicknames are supposed to be sacred between family members, I'm concerned with what else my mom is going to tell Jordan. Bending down, I start to pull my carry-on out from under the seat in front of me.
Jordan watches me with interest. "What are you doing?"
"Looking for my notebook and a pencil. I need to make myself a note so I don't forget to email my mom about how mad I am at her for giving out personal information without my consent." My memory is complete crap. Usually for Christmas I get sticky notes from at least three different family members. Jordan laughs out loud, earning a glare from the older couple sitting in front of us. She quickly covers her mouth as her eyes go wide, giving them a quick bow while apologizing profusely.
"Karma. Serves you right." I stick my tongue out at her.
"Y/n don't be mean..." Her cheeks go pink from embarrassment.
Smiling again I turn around to the two young women and man sitting behind us, our teachers Ms. Allyson (Psychology), Ms. Jane (French) and her brother Mr. Allen (Spanish). They were quietly talking amongst themselves; going over maps and itineraries. Ms. Jane is the only one of us fluent in Korean so she is our main translator, although some of us have been studying hard for months to at least know the basics. Ms. Jane looked up and smiled as she caught my eye.
