THE ART DOES NOT BELONG TO ME

They say, "Be grateful. You have so much in your life." "You're so young and have so much potential don't let it go to waste." "Your life is already perfect what more could you want?"
People say I should be appreciative for what I have in my life, and trust me I am. I'm the Captain of Nekoma's girls' volleyball team. My brother, Ryuko Haishu, is signing to one of the best colleges in Japan next year, a path people expect me to follow. My family works with a very popular company, so my life is destined to be so
perfect.
Of course, I love the life I have, I mean who wouldn't? Although I am grateful for everything, I still have a desire for more, like something in my life is missing. As if I have a match but nothing to start a fuse with, like a fire pit with the perfect amount of logs but no fire, no fuse.
I want more. I need more, but what could I possibly be missin-
I was writing in my diary before I was interrupted by the sound of a knock on my door. I look up and glance at my clock. 7:30pm.
I look at my door, waiting for someone to speak before saying anything. Nothing.
"Yes? Come in?" I say, partially annoyed as I was interrupted.
The door opens, revealing my 6-foot, annoying brother of mine. "Hey Y/N, I'm going to have my friends come over so please be mindful of what you're doing okay dumbass?"
I rolled my eyes and shrugged. "Why do I care? Leave my room, please and thank you idiot." I returned his rude remark with a sarcastic smile, causing him to roll his eyes and close my door. Before I return to my previous task, I hear voices I am not familiar with.
"Damn you really going to let her talk to you like that?"
"Yeah, personally I wouldn't let that happen to me."
"Bokuto, you have let that happen to you."
Snickering follows after that last comment as well as footsteps descending downstairs. I wonder who that was.
I decide out of curiosity to check who is here. I look in the mirror, checking myself out a bit. I adjust my baggy sweat shorts a bit as well as my oversized Nekoma Volleyball hoodie. I put on my slippers as well as my glasses before stepping out of my room. I open my door to hear chatter downstairs along with video game sound effects.
I head downstairs to see my brother along with 3 other guys. One of them look a bit over 6 feet, white/blackish hair shaped as an owl with hazel-ish eyes. He looked over at me and stared at me for a little before the rest of them noticed me. He oddly looked familiar.
Ryuko sighed, "I told you to not disturb me." I looked at my brother and gave him a smug look. "To be fair, you disrupted me earlier so now I can't focus again. Anyways who are these people?" My brother got up and stood next to me. "Guys this is my sister, Y/N." He put his elbow on my head, being that he was way taller than me. I looked up at him annoyingly shoving him off before waving at the other boys.
"That owl-head over there is Bokuto Koutarou." Bokuto looked at me a little while longer before greeting me. "HEY HEY HEY! It's a pleasure to meet you." He got up and shook my hand. I shook his as well, he stared at my eyes before letting go awkwardly.
"Oi, Bokuto, you're probably making her uncomfortable."
I look over to the dark blue eyed, black haired person sitting on the couch. Ryuko then pointed at him, "That's Akaashi Keiji." Akaashi gave a warm smile which caused me to return the gesture with an additional wave.
I noticed another guy standing by the counter at the corner of my eye, staring me down. I looked at him. This one felt different. I took the time to take in every feature. His bedheaded black hair, His brownish-gold eyes, his nice fit figure, his tall height. I then caught his eye as he stared at mine with such an intriguing look. He stared into my eyes, feeling like he was staring into my soul. Our eye contact felt like it lasted a long time. He then moved his eyes toward my torso.
I eventually noticed and gave him a disgusting look and crossed my arms. I caused him to look back up at me, confused at first, but then a bit flirtatious. The bed head finally spoke.
"You go to Nekoma, huh."
I was a bit confused at the random statement he made. I then followed his eyes where he previously looked and spotted my Nekoma Volleyball hoodie. I close my eyes and gave myself an inner deadpan expression. Really Y/N? Assume the worst why don't you. I take every once of dignity I have left and look up at him, noticing him smiling in a teasing matter. "Oh what gave it away." I said sarcastically. My brother interrupted our little greeting, causing me to look at him. "That's Kuroo Tetsurou."
His name stuck with me, lingered around my mind.
Kuroo Tetsurou.
Something about his name made me more intrigued. I looked up at Kuroo, noticing he never took his eyes off of me. He smirked at me. "Nice to meet you, Y/N"
The way he said my name completely gave me a rush.
"Yeah same to you I guess." I smirked back at him. "Damn, you going to take that Kuroo?" Bokuto said, causing me to laugh at his remark. Kuroo's smirk slowly disappeared as walked up to Bokuto and slapped the back of his head. The owl head boy started whining a bit, making Akaashi and Ryuko chuckle. Ryuko, realizing something, changed the subject. "Oh, hey, Kuroo goes to Nekoma too. He's a third year."
A third year? How come I never noticed him before?
Bokuto then inserted, "Yeah and Akaashi and I are at Fukurodani!" I smiled at the owl head. "Yeah I seen one of your volleyball games. No wonder you looked familiar. You're the ace of Fukurodani!" I said a bit excitedly. I was a huge fan of volleyball, especially boys volleyball. Watching the intensity in their matches brings a satisfying feeling to her. He smiled at me before saying something, "Glad you know of me, I am the best after all" He said overly cocky. Akaashi then looked at him with an unserious, yet serious expression. "Okay buddy"
"Damn, you going to take that Bokuto?" Kuroo taunted back, using Bokuto's own words against him. This taunting and playful banter caused me to laugh. Kuroo noticed it and smirked. "Whatever." Bokuto said, rolling his eyes. I chuckled. "Well it was nice meeting you guys, I'm going to my room now." All of them waved me goodbye. I started going up the stairs before having an urge to look back at Kuroo. He looked up at me. We locked eyes before he started smirking at me. A new feeling, a thrilling rush embodied me. "See you around, Y/N"
Those four simple words caused a smile to form on my face. I went back up to my room and closed the door. I close my eyes and take in the previous encounter with the bed head. I remember Kuroo's physical features. His eyes, His voice, His hair and face.
Why haven't I noticed him before?
I take off my slippers and glasses, climbing into bed afterwards. I look at the time. 8:01pm.
I turn on my TV, putting on my favorite show, (YOUR FAVORITE SHOW HERE). After a while I feel myself doze off.
Little did I know you would be that fuse to start my fire,
Kuroo Tetsurou.
