"Hey mom." I say to my mom as she walks in the door from school.
"Hi sweetheart, your father and I are going to dinner tonight. We will be back shortly." She responds eagerly.
"Okay mom. I love you."
" I love you too baby."
As mom walks out to the car, I carelessly plopped on the couch and turns Netflix on. I turned on Pretty Little Liars for about 2 hours. I fell asleep and quickly woke up when the tv shouted "breaking news live on channel 57, on highway 87 a blue ford explorer got crushed by a semi-truck. 1 male and 1 female were found in the fiery remains. There were no survivors. If you know these people or know someone who may please call 570-890-6767"
With that being said, I crashed to the floor. Almost forgetting my life. I was shaky but I picked up the phone and dialed the number.
"Hello?" I hear the news caster say as a question not knowing who I was.
"Um, hi." I could barely get out. "The people...." I don't think I could say it. I knew I had to. "Killed on the highway..... They.....they were my parents." When I said that, I felt like someone stabbed me. And they kept going deeper into my soul. the woman held a long silence as I heard whispers in the backround. I thought I heard someone say ' The people had a daughter and she is on the phone. ' I hoped that someone would talk so I could cry some more.
I fell asleep while they were silent. I awoke to a pounding at my door.
"Hello? Open up miss. This is the police."
As I groggily got up I looked at the clock. It was 2 am. I hurried to the door and opened it to find my neighbor and the police were standing. Shirley my neighbor was quick to hug me and I realized what happened wasn't a dream. It was reality and a really bad one.
I broke in her arms and the police silently looked at me with sorrow. What was I sopposed to say? When can I see my parents dead corpses? No. Alls I could do was cry and pray it wasn't real.
