What do you think when you hear the word pollution? I think huge cities with smoke clouding the air and trash littering the streets. Or a peaceful creek clogged with trash.
Maybe you think it's no big deal. So what if you just toss this wrapper on the ground. I hope I make you think twice about that.
Pollution kills, not just animals but people as well. People who live in areas with a high level of air pollutants have a 20% increased chance of dieing from lung cancer.
Over 1 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water. 5,000 people die each day due to dirty drinking water.
Each year over a trillion gallons of sewage, storm water, and industrial waste are dumped into U.S. water. As a result we are killing off wildlife. More than 1 million sea birds are killed every year due to pollution.
Needless to say, this is a problem.
So what do you do?
Stop smoking or follow "No smoking" rules.
Throw away your trash.
Carpool.
Don't use a bonfire to get rid of waste.
