Guardians - A King's War

Prelude

Destiny's POV

I was 4 years old and I'd be turning 5 in a matter of days. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Mom had taken me to the park, she'd sat down to talk to one of her mother friends and I'd been left by myself for the time being. A butterfly had floated past me and I had followed it a distance from my mother, to a more desolate area down the hill from the playground.
I sat down in the grass, giggling and enjoying the bugs.

There was a creaking sound, and when I looked a tree was falling on me.
I shrieked and curled up, clenching my hair in my hands.
But the tree never came.
I looked up slowly and a radiant figure in unfamiliar clothing with gentle, glowing eyes, was holding the tree up with one hand like it was nothing.
"Go." He breathed.
I skittered away, immediately tackled by my mother as the tree fell the rest of the way.
"Ai-yo mio!" My mother exclaimed, hugging my tight before checking me for even the tiniest scratch.
I looked back but the figure was gone, not a trace left behind on the tree or the ground. But every evidence I needed was nestled in my mind. My memories would live in me as a memorial of what he'd done for the many, many years to come.

~ Author's Note ~

I'm going to be uploading this series in clumps, specifically 5 chapters per upload. So, you get the prelude and 5 chapters for now, then I'll get you another 5 chapters whenever I get to it and so forth. The story itself isn't that long so it might only be 15 or maybe even 10 chapters total.
Thanks for reading my books and I hope you all enjoy my fictional adventures with these characters. I'm excited to bring in the antagonist, Destiny's friend, and ____'s acquaintances, which will be soon. Keep an eye out for any easter eggs I may plant and a potential crossover chapter with one of my other stories (?). I don't even know what all I'll be doing but feel free to take a look whenever.
