V. Girls and a Truck

After our talk, things between me and Miss Mendez pretty much were back to normal. Normal meaning, sharing flirty glances in class, me carrying her things for her, sending her lunch, and stealing kisses on the backseat of her car after school days.

Not how I wanted things to be, but I really can't complain. I'll take whatever she can offer at this point.

It's the weekend already, and we will be playing at The Podium later kaya naman heto kami practicing our set sa spare room that we converted into a studio sa condo ni Eli. After the last song, we decided to take a break.

Sabay-sabay kaming sumalampak sa mga bean bags while sipping a bottled water.

"Damn! I can wolf down a whole burrito right now. I'm so fucking hungry." Eli grumbled.

"When are you not hungry, doll?" Sagot naman ni Kenny bago ito mabilis na tumayo saka dumiretso sa banyo ng umamba si Eli na babatuhin siya ng bottled water nitong hawak.

Naramdaman ko namang nag-vibrate ang phone ko kaya mabilis ko itong kinuha mula sa bulsa ko.

It's a text message from her, because we're not yet connected in messenger. Ayaw kasi niya i-accept 'yong friend request ko for some reason, and instead, she asked for my phone number. Ang old school lang pero, I liked it. Natawa naman ako ng mabasa ang pangalan niya.

Hey, brat. What trouble are you up to?"

She'll probably kill me kapag nalaman niyang ito ang pangalan niya sa contacts ko. I quickly composed a reply.

Hi, dollface. Not much. May gig later kaya we're practicing at Eli's. You?

Pagkasend ko ng reply ay naramdaman kong may kung anong bagay na tumama sa ulo ko. An empty water bottle.

I glared at Eli na ngayon ay nakangisi na habang nag-iinat at palabas na ng studio kasunod ni Kenny.

"When you're done sexting your girl, let's go grab some snacks. I'm starving." Nakangisi pang sabi niya, pero inirapan ko lang ito.

Where?

After typing my reply, sumunod na rin ako sa dalawa.

We strolled around the neighborhood trying to find a good snack bar until we spotted Freddy's Pizza Parlour.

We settled for an order of pizza margherita, spicy buffalo wings, garlic parmesan fries, some fried mozzarellas, and fruit shakes for drinks. We usually work out some appetite after every band practice, except for Eli na obviously always PG.

I checked my phone for Miss Mendez' reply, pero ng makitang wala ay nagsimula na din akong kumain. I was about to take a bite of my pizza ng may tumawag sa pangalan ko. Paglingon ko sa likod ay nakita ko si Kelsey, along with two other girls.

"Kelsey, hey! Come join us guys." Eli called them over.

Hindi na ako nakatutol pa ng tinawag na sila ni Eli and invited them to join our table. Kelsey together with her friends, Chloe and Amber.

"Fancy seeing you here." Kelsey said, smiling at me, ng makaupo sa tabi ko.

"You, too." I politely smiled back at her.

"We're at the bookstore just around the corner ng mag-yaya kumain 'yang dalawa. You guys always hang out here?" She asked again, obviously engaging me to a conversation.

"Nah. We got hungry after practice, kaya naghanap kami ng makakainan." I answered after taking a sip of my strawberry milkshake.

"Oh, may gig kayo later? Can we watch?" Sabi pa nito, looking really excited.
