Traitor of the outlands

Story Pt.2

The next week is more of the same, tests, one kid per day. He keeps telling me that he is on my side but im questioning that. I feel like im starving. I walk over to the door and try to get it open, I try with my tongues, I feel like im being watched. I start pounding on the door, I start to feel it give way. I moan in hollow "Food..Give me food" I am stronger than I was last week but im not strong enough, I keep pounding, and a siren starts to blare. Its ear-piercing screech gives me a headache, I moan and sink to the floor. The siren stops blaring when I slide to the floor. This is how he has been keeping me here, Day after day. Over the intercoms, I hear "Stop trying to escape, We know you're hungry and want out. Soon you will be able to eat to your heart's content"
I say "How soon?" and wait for a reply.
As soon as I give up thinking he will answer he says "Very very soon. We only have a few more days of tests left to do" I get up and look at myself in the mirror, I play with my short brown hair and think of how strong Im going to become. All my friends will be so proud of who I become. I laugh which I haven't done much since the incident. My right eye is white but my left is normal light blue-grey. The door opens with a grinding of metal, Caul stands with a little boy in the doorway. He is testing how long I can go without food when it's right in front of me. I wait fifteen minutes then charge at the kid, blinded by my hunger.
"fifteen minutes," he says "Better than yesterday" he shoves the kid toward me. I unleash my tongues and plunge them into him but find no heart. I scream a hungry cry. I rush at Caul, but he closes the door before I can get out. I hit the door, and recoil from the pain. I end up lying on the floor. Hunger plagues my every breath, I start to break things but the siren starts and I stop. Pain, Hunger is all I feel. I want food, I need food. The next time he opens the door it's with another kid, I rush right for him, and the kid runs past Caul into the hallway.
Caul says "This may or may not be your final test so go"
I nod and run after the kid, I open my mouth and use my tongues to propel myself forward. He runs with blasts of air coming from his hands. I bet he is timing me, I need to catch up to this kid quick. I turn a corner and run a shortcut to the same hallway he is coming down, I force him to go down a dead-end ally. I smile and trap him in the ally. I hold him with my two free tongues and use my last one to rip out his heart and eat it. The euphoria cascades through me. I walk back, Caul's face is bright with a huge smile. I think this is one of the few times I have seen him truly smile.
Caul says "You have passed" and looks at me. "I assign you with the mission of killing six peculiars, one has to be a Ymbryn. Don't get caught. You may leave immediately"
I nod and leave the building and breath in the fresh cool air of fall, I walk towards the nearest city.
