"Mayday this is not a test! I repeat this is not a test!" The news woman screamed into the television. "Stay in your houses!"
Of course, nobody had taken her suggestion.
All of the United States was under panic. Why? Terrorists had invaded all of the 50 US states. Including Canada as well.
Everyone in my neighborhood was running around like headless chickens. Various people crying, making war plans, trading supplies for the incoming war.
Yes, there's already going to be people going to war against this threat. Think about it: we're AMERICANS. We don't think; we do!
It wasn't until the third night that the terrorists invaded my house, lined my family up in an execution style and was about to shoot my family.
And it wasn't till that third night, when we were rescued. By heroes.
Not just any heroes, but Christian and Gloria Farfett. The legendary, thought to be fake, heroes. Everybody thought they were an anonymous group of vigilantes and that they were. Before the terrorists even invaded, they had warnings up.
Nobody believed them.
Nobody but me, and a few other people. They were our idols, even we thought they were fake.
But no, here they were rescuing us.
They kicked down our door and entered the house in a hail of gunfire that they were shooting in our direction. My family and I dropped to the ground.
Through the smoke we saw two people. Christian and Gloria. Christian was a tall guy who had a spiky green and red mohawk. He was wearing a leather vest with no shirt underneath. His pants were big, and baggy in the color of gray.
Gloria had short, black hair with piercing blue eyes. She too rocked a leather jacket, but with a dirt smeared white shirt underneath. She had red jeans on with tears in them. She had a bullet bandolier across her chest.
When I got up, I saw our attackers were dead, Christian and Gloria saved us.
Christian nodded to me, throwing me a knife. I caught it instantly. "You heard of the GDV?" He asked in a deep voice that I always pictured he had.
"The GDV?" I asked confused.
"The Green Day Vilgilantes." Gloria says, now standing up from her crouched position on the ground. "Your unit is safe."
I nodded. My unit? Does she mean my family?
Gloria slung her massive gun over her shoulder as if it was a backpack. "You'll be safer with us. We can train you to fight against these...things."
"What things?" I ask. Gloria and Christian started stomping out of our house. I followed them. I had so many questions.
"You'll learn more about those worthless pieces of shit in the van on the way to HQ." Christian answered.
The green vans back doors were waiting, opened for me.
"Well, are you coming?" The driver of the van asked. I looked at the driver square in the eyes and I realized it was Mike Dirnt of Green Day itself.
I then looked back at my terrified family in the doorway of our house. My father nodded, saying a silent "go.".
I climbed into the van and slammed its doors shut.
Christian held his hand out to me and I shook it.
"Welcome to the American Idiot squadron." He smiled.
And with that, we drove off to HQ, where ever that maybe. Who knows, maybe the Green Day Vigilantes can save us all? Or, who knows, maybe America is destined for failure.
