The vans commute was bumpy. There were no windows in the van, so Kaitlynn couldn't see where they were going.
"So? You said you'd explain?" I ask Christian and Gloria who were sitting together and talking amongst themselves.
They look up at me, as if they didn't remember I was here, or that I apparently joined the so called "Green Day Vigilantes".
"Yes, that." Christian says, unfolding his hands.
"In the beginning, they were only songs. And the rest of us, excluding Mike up there-" Mike took a hand off the wheel to wave. "Idolized this band. We all did, just like you and your friends idolize us." Christian smiled to Gloria.
I nod, still listening.
"But Green Day, was singing truths yet to come. Little did we know that they were warning us, all of us." Then Gloria added, "So, Billie Joe contacted us."
"But how did he even know you guys existed? For all everybody knew you guys were just lyrics!" I exclaim.
"It helped that we grew up together." Mike said from the drivers seat. "We all met before the band was together. It was in the fifth grade but then we all drifted. Billie Joe and I stuck together."
"Oh." I said. "Who is this band of terrorists? What's their objective?"
"Woah, woah, woah." Christian said. "We'll cover that when we get to the boss."
"The boss?" I ask. "You guys have higher command?"
"What? Did you think we have military clearance to do this?" Gloria said, sounding sort of angry. "Because we don't. We're doing this to get and make people self aware of who and what is coming."
I put my hands up in a peaceful gesture, but Mike handles it. "Glores, calm it down."
She nods, sitting back down next to Christian. He puts an arm around her shoulder and rubs it.
The road becomes more bumpy.
"Where are we? The middle of no where?" I roll my eyes.
"Pretty much." Christian says. My head bobs back and I squirm to see outside of Mikes left driver side window. It's all trees.
He rolls down his window completely and Kaitlyn sees more trees but then she thinks she sees an empty cabin.
"A camp?" She asks.
Mike nods.
"So... Like a summer military base camp?"
Mike nods again.
"Well, this will be interesting.." Kaitlyn mutters underneath her breath.
