"Maddie!!" I hear my best friend Samantha's voice downstairs. I groan as I wake up from bed blindly arranging my bed as this was the last time I would do this for many months. I started to sing Reaching for the Stars by Cherry Bombshell
"Maddie!!" she called again.
"I'm up!!" I yell loudly. "What's all this racket!!" yelled my nosy neighbour Mrs Cromwell. I roll my eyes as I rush to my shower to feel the warmth of the running water. I felt nervous as ever I knew I was making a big risk stepping into the e college. I hadn't paid half the fee and I just deleted and tossed out all the emails I got from the college but I knew I couldn't run forever. Mrs Green the vice headmistress would surely find me and single me out for not paying my fees and I'd be kicked out before I could blink.
But I'd always wanted to attend Elite College. It was my dream to attend there it was probably the best school in the whole state. Kids would give up their kidneys for it and I had worked so hard to get my scholarship only to find out it paid for the classes but not for the room or uniform or other stuff like clubs which was mandatory. The bill racked up to S300,000 per term apart from the classes. I wasn't even worth S3000,000. How could I pay for those fees?.
As I of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body. Samantha calls my name again but I ignore her. I know she's worried about my school fees. She's the only person who knows about my debt and she tries to pay the amount but I won't let her. She's too good to me and it's my debt so it's my problem, not hers.
"Madelaine!!" she calls again.
"I'm coming and if you say my full name one more time I'm going to beat your ass" I called down as I walk the stairs.
The table is filled with pancakes, eggs and y favourite of all time bacon. Samantha glances at my happy expression. "It's all for you sweetie so eat up," she said.
"Thank you," I said giving her a hug. I push pancakes and eggs into my mouth at the same time. "Slow down Mads you're acting like you haven't been fed in days and you look like it too. I don't get it you eat like a hippo but you're as thin as a gazelle" she signed.
"I guess I'm one of those special kids with eternal slimness" I joked. I finish eating in a matter of seconds and begin to wash the dishes. Samantha goes behind and silently slips something into my pocket. I swiftly pull out my hand and hold her hand dropping the plate in the process.
I pull out her hand revealing the envelope. "Didn't I tell you I didn't need your money?" I said roughly. "I'm just trying to help you Maddie you can't pay for S300,000 you need help so let me help you" she pleaded.
"Thank you, Sammy, really but like I told you I'm not a charity case and I don't need your money I can pay for the fees on my own soo please stop trying to give me money" I yell loudly. "Fine but if you really need money ask me don't go and get yourself in trouble you hear me, Maddie," she said. I don't say anything but nod my head.
We get in the car and drive in silence. The pancake I had for breakfast bubbles in my stomach as I wait anxiously for the cr to arrive. I'm sure what's in store for me If I go through without any problems or if they're waiting for me to kick me out?
