(1st Person, Y/n's POV)
Y/n L/n, a girl who's still trying to figure out how to navigate university, juggle classes, and a part-time job at the same time.
....Also a girl who's running late for her lecture. And I quite literally mean running. I mean speeding through the halls like Nora West-Allen. Being clumsy doesn't exactly help out my situation because I'm bumping into just about everyone in my path. When I aggressively slammed into someone's chest and fell backwards onto the floor with my backpack breaking my fall (and my back), I wasn't even surprised. It was bound to happen.
I opened my eyes to see the most gorgeous man I've ever seen holding his hand out to help me up. Then I blink and see the same person in the same position next to him. Huh?
"Did I hit my head too hard?" I mumble.
They laugh, and each grab one of my hands to yank me up off the floor. One of them goes to pick up my glasses and phone which somehow flew to the other side of the hall.
When I'm upright on my feet again, I can't help but stare into those gorgeous hazel eyes. His eyelashes are so long. Why the hell do boys get blessed with all the good looks and I have to WORK my ASS off to even be the slightest bit attractive?? Smh.
He introduces himself as Mateo Martinez, and his clone introduces himself as Pedro Martinez.
They told me they're identical twins (as if I couldn't already tell), and Pedro felt the need to point out that he was older by 7 minutes. They started bickering about who was older for a few minutes while I just stood there, wondering if I could sneak away without them noticing. I almost successfully did so, but Mateo noticed me leaving out of the corner of his eye.
"Hey, what class are you headed to?" he asks me, grabbing my hand.
"Mrs. O'Neill's lecture." I say, checking my phone for the time. 10:16 a.m. Crap. The lecture started at 10.
"Oh, I am too." Pedro says, while Mateo looks slightly disappointed.
"Damn bro, you're lucky you get to have the same class as a cutie like her." Mateo says, subtly winking at me. "I'll see you guys later, I'm headed to our dorm."
With that, Mateo walks down the hall and turns a corner, leaving me and Pedro all alone in the suddenly barren corridor.
"Mind if I walk you to class?" he says with a smirk spread across his lips.
Well, not like I had much of a choice since we were going to the same class anyways.
We chatted a bit while walking to class, and I noticed that Pedro seemed a little more introverted than his brother Mateo. I thought it was kinda cute.
We snuck into the lecture hall and took our seats next to each other in the very back row. Turns out we had a lot in common. We're both really into anime and reading, and have basically the same humor. We ended up laughing so hard that the teacher had to call us out to be quiet. It's a good thing I had my phone recording the lecture because I didn't take any notes and Lord knows Imma need those notes for the next exam.
Three hours later, Pedro and I walked out of the lecture hall clutching our stomachs with laughter at a video he showed me on TikTok. Mateo was waiting for us at the end of the hall.
"So how was the lecture?" he asks, eying our goofy grins.
"I won't even lie, I didn't hear a single word that Mrs. O'Neill said. I was too busy trying not to start snorting." I say, finally coming down from my high of laughter.
I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, and notice a text from my best friend, Alejandro.
1:29 p.m.
Bestie <3: Yo wya? I'm waiting for you at the café
Me: Omw. Can I bring some new friends along?
Bestie <3: sure
I look up from my phone to see the twins bickering again.
"Quit it, guys. Do y'all wanna come with me to the café on the north end of the campus? I'm meeting up with a friend there, and it would be nice to have some more company." I offer.
"With you, I'd go anywhere." Mateo says and throws another wink my way.
I chuckle. "Okay, what about you Pedro?"
"Fine by me." he says.
The café was only about a 15 minute walk from the building we were in, so it wasn't long until we got there. I was searching for Alejandro when I see him waving from the table he saved for us. I ran over to him and jumped into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck. He swung me around in a circle while we hugged.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" I say, giving his neck one more squeeze before he sets me back down on the ground.
"I literally saw you last night, but okay." he laughs. "Who are they?" He points to the twins who followed behind me.
"Oh, these are the new friends I was talking about!" I say. "This is Mateo, and that's Pedro."
"When you said 'friends' I kinda assumed you meant girls..." Alejandro mumbles.
"What, were you hoping that I'd bring someone else for you to hook up with? Or are you jealous that I have other male friends besides you?" I tease him, sticking my tongue out.
He rolls his eyes at me and motions to the chair for me to sit down.
"I'll go get our drinks. I already know you want a salted caramel mocha, and do you guys want anything?" he asks the twins. Maybe it was just me, but it kinda looked like he was glaring at them.....eh whatever. It was probably nothing anyways.
"I'll take a black coffee, please." Pedro says.
"And a vanilla cappuccino for me." Mateo follows.
"Alright. I'll be back in a few minutes." Alejandro says, grabbing his wallet and walking away.
(A/N: Just a little side note, I don't know too much Spanish and for any Spanish parts in this story there is a 75% chance I used Google Translate.....don't come at me if it's incorrect lmfao)"Pedro, ¿estás pensando lo que estoy pensando?" Mateo turns to his brother.
This is the one thing I can't do with bilingual people. When they start speaking to others in another language and I don't know what they're saying, it annoys me so much. But let's pretend that I'm totally not bilingual and don't do that all the time either....heh.
Pedro responds to his twin with, "Yo podría ser Si estás pensando en... ya sabes," then nods towards me and continues, "Entonces sí."
They nod at each other and then turn to me, who was on my phone trying to translate what they said. But, I wasn't fast enough because Mateo snatched my phone from out of my hand and placed it face-down on the table.
"So." he says. "That guy over there, getting our drinks,"
I could only assume he meant Alejandro.
"Is he your....boyfriend?"
I choke on my saliva and laugh. "Al? My boyfriend?? No, of course not! We've been best friends since kindergarten. Our relationship is purely platonic."
They both let out a breath that I didn't even notice they were holding in. A sigh of relief?
"Why? Were y'all jealous?" I ask, wiggling my eyebrows. I was only joking, but when they laughed in response, the look in their eyes said otherwise.
Just then, Alejandro came back with our drinks. The rest of our time there started off with small talk, then turned into us holding onto the table for dear life while quite literally laughing our asses off. We left the café about an hour and a half later. We walked towards the sex-segregated dormitory buildings which were right next to each other, and before splitting paths I put my phone number into Pedro and Mateo's phones and they put theirs into mine.
"Until we meet again, princesa~" Mateo says, taking my hand and kissing it. Pedro just waves with a cute smile before putting his hands in his pockets and turning to walk away.
Once I get back to my dorm, I jump onto my bed, take a pillow and squeal into it to muffle the noise. Those boys were so HOT omg.
For a little while after that, I took notes on the recording of the lecture from earlier. When I was done with that task, I changed into something more comfortable, just sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt, and sit on my bed staring at the twins' contacts. Should I text them? Or should I wait until one of them texts me first?
I didn't have to think about it for long though, because Pedro texted me just moments later. When I tell you I was scared SHITLESS-
9:38 p.m.
Pedro: hey

I don't rly have much else to say, so hope you have a good day/night :)
