An Age Old Promise

~Natalie's P.O.V~
"It'll probably for a few days or more... we'll visit Wolf first if you don't mind.". "I-it's alright, sis." Said Darky from the other end. I asked if Klaus heard our conversation and I heard him shouting in the background, "About time you come home!" sounds like he's across the room. I chuckled, "I did say that I'll visit so yeah!" and replied. "Can't wait for you guys to meet my roomie!" I excitedly added and Darky said that she can't wait as well. "Gotta go now. I'll see you in a bit.". "I'll see you too!" she asked me to send her regards to Wolf and I said okay before ending the call.

"Was that your sister?" Ray asked. I said yes and he said that Darky sounds nice. "She's a bit shy but I'm sure you'll like her." My eyes curved to a smile. We continued packing and this time, neither of us intentionally overpack. I have a used camera and Ray asked if he can bring it along and I let him use it. It's not like I have any more use of it.

Friday finally came and Ray made breakfast for both of us. His cooking is always fancy even if it's the simple ones. After breakfast, we took turns on shower and hopped in the car after changing. I didn't forget to do one last check on our stuff before driving and yes, I had messaged Wolf that we'll be visiting him before I called Darky or it would've been another long conversation between him and Ray.

Both of us hopped in the car and drove to Germany. The car passed through the border checkpoint and I was honestly concerned that the guards might check who I'm driving with and I honestly had an idea for Ray to hide on the back seat when we passed the checkpoint. Thankfully, the guards just watched my car pass and didn't do any inspections. Both Ray and I were relieved, especially Ray that he doesn't have any identification papers either it's forged or not.

"That was close..." I sighed a long exhale of relieve and so was Ray, "It really was...". I saw the familiar road and I had another two deja-vus at the same time. "Here we are... Berlin." We entered the capital and Ray looked at the sight in that same look of nostalgia. "You know..." Ray broke the ice. "I was supposed to meet... well, I was to be moved to Paris after a meeting in Berlin if that attack never happened." and told me his last order. "Would you still be moved to Paris if you did recover?" I asked.

"Possibly..." Ray answered. "After I dealt with my assassins of course.". "Right, right..." I giggled and I guess that took his mind off. Ray asked how often I went back and I answered at least once a month. "I tried to prolong my stays but work as usual.". "I can understand that." Ray nodded. He asked again if I often visit Wolf and I answered that Darky and I would visit twice a year. "During summer and winter break and sometimes out of that if we had the time." I added.

"But we haven't recently.". "I take that both of you are busy?" Ray shared his guess and I nodded. After some turns, I saw the familiar road and we arrived. Ray and I got off and went to the front door after I parked my car. "This is where he lives now?" Ray asked. "I had the same reaction when my sister and I first visited." I answered, letting him figure out what I meant. Neither of us wanted to knock and Ray finally did the honors.

Few seconds passed and the lady of the house opened the door. She happily greeted Ray and I even though a bit surprised when she saw Ray but still invited us in. "Uncle! Natalie and her friend are here!" she announced our presence to Wolf and permitted Ray and I to sit while waiting. It didn't take long for Wolf to come and greet us, "I've been expecting both of you." He smiled. "Here we are!" I replied with a smile.

The three of us were just catching up on each other and I didn't forget to tell Wolf that Darky said hi. "Does my sister or Klaus often contact you?" I curiously asked. "Not as frequent as they used to." Wolf answered. He added that either Klaus or Darky would only do rainchecks most of the time. I gave my comment that everyone has their own business to take care of. "Is there a special occasion for this visit?" he asked. "Not really..." I answered.

"It was Ray's idea actually." And clarified. "Ray... what a peculiar name." Wolf sighed a smirk and asked why I picked that name. Ray then asked back if Wolf remembered who first used the name 'Rein' but Wolf didn't remember. "Really? You don't remember at all?". "I don't." Wolf shook his head. Ray kept insisting his former superior to recall in disbelieve even as far as dragging me along. "It's okay, Ray." I put my hand on his shoulder. "You don't have to force him." And gave an apologetic smile. Ray finally stopped but he didn't apologize.

Both of us stayed until lunch before continuing the trip. Ray did most of the talking and telling them how he is been living with me. Of course, all of it were nice things with some teasing and everyone enjoyed it. Ray and I went to the front door after lunch and Wolf thanked us for visiting. "Are you okay around the capital?" I nearly forgot to asked that. "I want to show Ray around but from what happened few months ago..." I shared my concerns. Wolf told us that there were some extra security but it should be fine now.

"Alright, thanks for letting us know." I replied. "We'll be going now." Said Ray with a smile and both of us went back to the car after waved goodbye to Wolf and continued the trip. "Do you want to uh... check out the old places?" I asked while driving. "Sure." Ray answered and I took him to the old sites. He remembered most of them too and I told him my time here when I was doing my apprenticeship.

The day was getting dark and I decided to drive back to Lüneburg. Ray was messing around with the playlist and he found the new "246JUNCTION" album I got. "You found it!" the first song played and it matched the drive vibe. Ray asked if it's new and I nodded, "It's also the artist's first album. Hope you don't mind.". "You really are a curious one." He sighed a smile and I continued driving while enjoying the album. I did sing along the tracks.

After a couple of hours and some light traffic, I'm finally home. The view of the shop was getting closer and I excitedly parked the car. Ray and I got off along with our stuff and went to the door. Those dogwoods are still displayed as usual. I opened the door and announced, "Darky! I'm home! And I brought a guest!" it's been a long time since I said that. I heard footsteps coming and Darky came and hugged me, "Natalie! You're back!". "Always glad to see you again." Klaus then came over with a smile.

"And this is our guest—-". "You seriously brought Reinhard Heydrich?" as always, Klaus immediately identify Ray and I saw Ray's concerned face. "It's alright. The three of us are—-". "Experienced in the department." Klaus finished my sentence and I saw Ray relaxed after hearing it. "Klaus Brunner. Pleasure to be your acquaintance, Obergruppenführer." He introduced himself. "It's just Reinhard now or Ray as your friend call me and the pleasure is mine." Ray smiled.

~Darky's P.O.V~
"Right! Is my room still intact?" asked Natalie and Klaus joked that he had been "redecorating" before running away. "Klaus you son of a—-come back here!" Natalie growled while chasing Klaus and I giggled. "And you must be Darky." Said Mr. Heydrich. "I-it's short for D-Darkwood." I timidly answered. I think I know why Natalie kept him a secret.

I timidly stretched out my hand, "I-it's nice t-to meet you... m-mister Heydrich.". "It's nice to meet you as well." he shook my hand with a smile. He asked if I have the same giving pet name habit just like Natalie and I nodded. "Then do you have one for me yet?". "I-is "Hardy" okay f-for you?" I asked back and he laughed and let me call him that. "Both of you are a curious one." Hardy was still smiling.

Natalie and Klaus finally came back and Klaus was still in one piece. Hardy asked what happened and I told him that it was just their usual antics. He chuckled, "I suppose that is how they normally interact.". "Pretty much—-ow!" Natalie nudged Klaus and told Hardy that he'll use the guest bedroom while Klaus sleeps on the couch. "Are you sure it's fine?" Hardy hesitated and Natalie said it's fine. "Besides... what's a guest bedroom if we don't let guests use it?" she pointed and Hardy agreed.

She then took the first turn to clean herself before Hardy and went to the bathroom. I noticed him smiling at my sister and I asked, "Do you like Natalie?". "She is just a fun roommate." He answered and I think he knew why I asked. "I think she likes you.". "How could you tell?" I only told him that I just know. The rest of the evening was much more fun with the two here. I miss my sister.
