I woke up with my alarm super excited today was the first day of my new life. As a witch. Earlier this summer when I was hanging with my cousin Luna we both had gotten our Hogwarts letters. I was super excited because I didn't think I would actually get excepted into Hogwarts as my magic is rather poor. My mother, Luna, and my uncle congratulated me, my dad had already passed on when I was younger so I was kinda bummed he didn't get to see me but still. In a few years I'll be a bonafide witch. As I got dressed Luna came in a smile on her face "Adeline you must be very excited" then she looked me up and down "your gonna wear that under your robes" she said pointing at my outfit "yeah so" I said, she just smiled again before leaving my room. When my dad died mum and I moved in with the lovegoods as we were cousins, we needed the support as we were both devastated by the tragedy. Luna comforted me in the weirdest way "well look on the bright side, now you'll be able to see the thestrals" she said hugging me tightly, I know she was trying to cheer me up so I smiled and relaxed in her arms, Luna and I had been as close as sisters since then. I finished dressing and grabbed my trunk, I crawled under the bed and got my cat carrier out before grabbing pumpkin my dwarf calico cat from my pillow where she liked to sleep. Pumpkin was a cat kneazle hybrid so she had abnormally large ears and red eyes. I got her on diagon ally when I went to get my wand. I quickly popped her into my carrier and grabbed my wand (larch wood with dragon heartstring core, eleven and a half inches, quite bendy flexibility) and I popped my wand into my pocket. Just then my mum called me "Adeline if you don't hurry you'll miss the train" she shouted up the stairs. "Coming mum" I shouted back before grabbing the cat carrier and rushing down the stairs, my truck was already loaded and ready to go. We got to the train station soon enough and my uncle helped load mine and Luna's things onto the trolly. We ran through the wall separating platforms nine and ten arriving at platform 9 3/4 right on time. Getting in line and turning in my ticket, I felt like nothing could go wrong. I got into the same compartment as my cousin and we talked the whole way to Hogwarts. When we finally got there is when we had to go our separate ways, Luna hugged me before we parted and said "whatever house you get into you are still my cousin and I love you, it would be awesome if you were a Ravenclaw but we never know. I mean look at the Patel twins, they're identical and got different houses so don't be worried about the houses" she said, I nodded thankful for her words before kissing her on the check and following hagrid the half giant to the boats. I loaded into one of the boats and soon enough they jolted forward we made it to the doors and filed into the great Hall the sorting hat sang
"Oh , you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. After the song was finished I looked around and met eyes with Luna waving at her and she waves back before I take a deep breath and look forward. I'm so nervous that one feel like it's taking them forever to get to my name the line feels like it's moving at a snails pace. Finally McGonagall calls my name "Adeline Fawcett" she says. I take a deep breath and start walking up, it feels like I'm walking through water, the voices around me feel loud everyone is murmuring "look at her hair" a girl said "fuck the hair look at her outfit" a boy said "her legs are so long and pretty" someone else said, but all around me I was hearing people saying "shes going to be a Slytherin" so many people were saying that that I was actually starting to believe I might be a Slytherin. This did not help my nerves, my platforms starting to feel like they are made out of lead and my palms begin to sweat, I try not to make it obvious as I wipe the sweat off my hands and onto my skirt. I gulp trying not to fall as I make my way up the stairs and sit on the 3 legged stool finally ready for my sorting. Professor McGonagall put the hat on my head and I closed my eyes. I heard a tiny voice ahh you are a riddle my dear, you love reading, you love creatures, your very loyal and hardworking I'm having trouble deciding where to put you. Time ticked by and I got nervous again, I heard people whispering again "a hat stall" someone said. Apparently I'm the first one to have a hat stall in a while. I heard the tiny voice again you carry characteristics of all the houses but I'll have to go with. Then I hear really loudly "HUFFLEPUFF" there was audible gasps heard around the room as McGonagall removed the hat from my head, my robes changed from plain black to lined with yellow and the house crest appeared on the front of my robes. The hufflepuff table cheered as I walked up to it, sitting next to a handsome 3rd year "welcome to hufflepuff Adeline, I'm cedric, cedric diggory"
