KateyVille High School wasn't known for its great sports team or high academic scores. It was most known for the gruesome history of the land the school was built upon. The rumors of ghosts roaming the halls dated back to the 1800s. Students would often sneak into the school after hours to catch glimpses of the ghosts, but what awaited them once they entered changed them forever.
Emily inserted a bobby-pin in the hole of the padlock which hung from chains wrapped around the back entrance of the school cafeteria. After wiggling the bobby-pin the padlock popped open and she pulled the chains down, removing them from the door. She turned back with a smirk on her face and motioned for her friends standing behind her to go in.
"Geez Em, didn't know you had it in you," Russell said as he padded her back as they walked inside.
"You don't give me enough credit," Em replied. She looked around and the cafeteria seemed normal. Kasey and June were opening the door and walking into the kitchen, to search for food no doubt. Tan was helping Russell scope out the doors and windows, laughing about how stupid the school was for leaving the doors inside unlocked. Sammy was sitting on the edge of a table with her arms crossed over her chest glaring at Emily.
"I still can't believe you dragged me here," Sammy says.
Emily smiled and walked to Sammy. She placed her hands on the side of Sammy's face and kissed her forehead.
"Thanks for coming with me Sam,"said Emily.
"Ugh, gross! Get a room" June yelled at the two, walking out of the kitchen holding a pint of ice cream.
Emily rolls her eyes and flips him off, "Screw you, June!" Emily shouts.
A shrill scream echos the halls and Kasey runs out of the kitchen, "Is everyone okay?"
Emily, Sam, and June stared at her surprised.
"Dude, I thought that was you," June states.
Emily and Sam nod in unison.
Tan runs through the cafeteria doors and Russell barrels in behind him. Both of them grab chairs and push tables to block the entrance.
"Guys, we could use a hand! Hurry up!" Russell says.
Everyone but Emily rushes to help them.
Once the door is blocked off June pushes Tan against the wall.
"Tan, what the hell happened?" June asks.
Tan shakes his head confused terror stricken over his features. Russell pulls June back.
"There's something in here! That whole ghost crap wasn't a rumor,"Russell replies wide eyed.
"What do you mean?" Kasey asks.
A few loud bangs against the barricaded door cause the group to jump, startled.
"She's back, we have to get out of here!" Tan yells running towards the door they entered from.
Emily crosses her arms over her chest.
"You're both over reacting, there's no way this is real."
Emily walks over to the barricaded doors and pushes a chair to the side.
"You're just trying to trick us...but guess what not? Not falling for it." she says.
"Nah man, you can stay you want but I am out of here," Tan says before walking outside.
"I'm with him, there's no way I'm staying here with that..thing," Russell says following Tan out the door.
Sammy grabs Emily's hand and pulls her back, "I don't think we should stay here."
Emily puts her hand over Sammy's and smiles.
"Its going to be okay, besides we are here to see ghosts. We have no reason to leave yet." Emily says.
"Yeah, don't you want to see a ghost Sam?" June asks pushing the tables back.
"I can't believe I let those dweebs scare me," June says.
"Yeah loser, they got you good," Kasey laughs sticking her tongue out.
"Forget them, the night is still young,"Emilys says walking through the doors and into the hallway.
Sammy walk up closely beside Emily, grabbing her hand and gripping it tightly.
Kasey and June run past them screaming for the ghosts to come out.
Without a warning Kasey is knocked from her feet and thrown against a wall. Her body hovering in mid air. Her head jerks left then right and her body falls to the floor. Kasey stares off in disbelief.
June looks at Kasey before he is knocked to the floor. As soon as his body touches the floor he's back in the air hitting the ceiling repeatedly. Suddenly he stops in the middle before he's dropped to the floor.
Kasey and Sammy are both screaming while Emily is unfazed.
"Emily we have to go now," Sammy cries.
Emily's eyes turn white and she stares down at Sammy. Emily lets out a loud cackle and snaps her fingers.
Sammy is knocked to the floor the breath knocked out of her.
"Leave? We are just getting started," said Emily.
