The time is right (warriors fanfic)

Prolouge

"Mousefur" he says in a soft voice, "I know, you'll never forgive yourself, but it wasn't your fault" he rests his tail on my shoulder and I let the warmth of his fur comfort me.

"I know Longtail," I start "But I can't help feeling that way, ever since you... You went to Starclan I couldn't help feeling lost, like a part of me had gone as well, I feel like I don't know myself anymore, I like I should've died moons ago, because, I, I love you Longtail, I've loved you my whole life ever since Redtail broke my heart I was depressed, until you stole it, but I've been too cowardly to admit it"

He looks at me with sympathy and twines his tail with mine, "I've felt the same way" he says and for the first time in seasons, my heart lifts, but the next thing he says pushes it right down again, "Something ominous is coming" he croaks, "The battle between light and dark, only one cat can save us now," he stops, as if not sure if he said too much. I nod.

"Blue star told me not to tell anyone until the time is right, and I think it is.." He mews quietly, even though we're alone, I bight the side of my mouth, dreading what he's about to say.

"Mousefur" he begins, "You're the fourth cat"
