Rengoku X Y/N

"Sit down, my children", Ubuyashihiki-sensei smiles at all the Hashira who have gathered together and sat around the table. "I suppose everyone has heard of the rumors." Ubuyshihiki-sensei's smile seems to fade. " The demons are getting stronger and more lives are at stake. It saddens me"!! Himejima cries.

A few weeks ago there have been rumors going around that more demons have been appearing and the demons are stronger than ever. At first, it was just that, Rumors. Demon slayers were sent to spectate the situation anyways but returned with nothing, but when the number of demons that caused death began to match the Rumors the matter became our problem as it is as of now an HHashira-ranked mission. At least that's what I can assume from what I've heard.

"I already created groups, your group will be searching in the mountains. Remember, You are looking for high-ranked demons by where we believe they're hiding." I feel all my weight drop to my feet although I am a Hashira like everyone else. But should I even be here? I've been here for a few months and only managed to screw everything up wherever I go. I'm not qualified to go on such a high-rank mission as everyone else.

"Uzui and Himejima to mount Yari, Shinagawa, and Kocho to mount Aino, Tomioka and Iguro to mount Okuhotaka, Tokito and Kankroli to mount Kita, and that leaves Rengoku and Y/n to Mount Fuji. I wish you the best, my children." I look at Rengoku, and he does the same. He looks so strong and has such a big smile. Almost like he's not scared, but why would he? He's been here for a while and has long proven to be the strongest of them all. "Y/n, I know that you've only been here for a couple of weeks but do not fear, You are a Hashira and believe that you have been given this rank for a reason." his smile rose from ear to ear and my spirits did too.

- Mount Fuji -

We've been running for a long time. Rengoku is super fast and all of his movements are efficient and precise. I tripped over 4 rocks, grass, and air. I think he saw me because although he was in front of me he gave a slight chuckle every time, or was that a cough? We've been running for hours and he finally slowed down. I didn't realize it because I was too stuck in my thoughts but the mountains were now in sight. "Y/n" Startling me and breaking this long and awkward silence. "Are you ok?" I was confused. "Your leg." I looked down at my leg confused as ever to find a blood trail from my knee to my toes. This probably happened when I tripped. "It's just a scratch, let's continue." He ripped off his sleeve and I couldn't help but notice his strong biceps, triceps, and all other ceps too, you can tell he never missed training. His sweaty arms glossed his skin, which is understandable since we've been running all day.

He wrapped his sleeve over my legs and said "Let me take you the rest of the way." As his back was faced towards me and his knees bent. Here I am, messing everything up again. Always needing somebody's help, I bottled it up and said "I-I'm heavy." As my face turns bright red and Rengoku giggles "Not in the slightest."

" It seems that you do not speak very often. Why's that?" Looked at me with curiosity. "Sometimes." While pushing my face to the back of his Haori to hide my blushing face. He had the smell of warm wood in a fire and Cinnamon sticks. "It depends, doesn't it, who does that include." He took a glimpse back at me. "Umm, My mom and my brother." As his eyes brighten he tells me "You are open with the people you're closest to, that makes sense. I have a little brother too. His name is Senjuro and he's 15 years old. He's shy just like you and thinks less of himself." I look down at him. It kinda hurts to know that my helplessness is observable. Rengoku stares at me with his big bright orange eyes that seem to shine so brightly as if they were the sun.

"The thing is when my brother finally gets that confidence needed, I feel as if he's amazing, it's almost like I am the younger brother." Rengoku seems to start running at a faster pace. I felt so safe. "I-Me and my brother are orphans. When my neighbor and I and my brother were smaller we were playing because that's what kids do and my mother was cooking dinner, and I think my dad was just coming back from work. We were all playing far from the house but we realized the sunset was getting dark. We were running home and our neighbor Aku fell." I started shaking and Rengoku saw me shake and pat my head. "You don't have to finish the story if you don't have to. You're hurting, and that affected you, I just want you to know that even though you don't see I know you are strong." I felt a tickle in my stomach, but it wasn't a sickening feeling, it was warm and cozy.
