"Love sometimes becomes the most unexpected thing in our lives. One of them is having someone change what you thought would never come true, turned into a reality. And then in the end, lose that person for the sake of their happiness."
Selena went out with some group of friends and were at the mall. She and her friends sat down at the table outside of the coffee shop. As her friends look through the menu, Selena goes and draws on her book. A waiter comes and takes some orders, she only ordered a regular coffee.
It was such a peaceful and happy day in her opinion since it was so calm in her part, however, they suddenly hear music behind her and they all look in the direction where the music came from.
There were people dancing at a distance and people cheering.
'Must be someone proposing or something.' Selena figured.
So she turned around and continued drawing as she waited for her drink. As she drew, she can't help but be reminded of someone, someone she used to be with all the time, through good and bad. She was so happy and felt so loved that time. And as the drawing continues, she hears the people at the distance calling that person's name. She and Kaela, her best friend, froze.
'So, that person is surprising his partner.' She thought to herself.
She ignored the noise while Kaela looked at her worriedly. The song was so happy and exciting to hear but... The very song that she hears in her mind is their song as she remembers their time together.
"Hey LD, what if one day, we broke up and one of us got into a relationship. Do we have to stop talking?" HE asked as laid his head down her shoulder.
"No. Why should we stop talking just because we broke up? We can just go back to friends with restrictions. Like before, just how we were before." Selena said.
"Won't it be hard? One of us would feel uncomfortable and probably still have not moved on."
"We're not even sure. Hell, we could still be in a relationship for a long time. We don't know the future, VD. Let's not focus on what ifs and just be happy and contented now." Selena said as she kissed his hand that was holding hers.
"You're right. It's just... I don't want to see you hurt. I don't want to see you in pain because of me. I can't bear to do that or to see that." He said as he sat up and looked at her in such affection that made Selena blush in that moment.
"And it might never happen. If it does, maybe it'll be a long time before we break up. But remember this, I will never be mad at you even if you hurt me. I promise." Selena reassured as she kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you." He softly said.
"Thank you." She replied as she smiled at him.
He smiled at her in appreciation and they cuddled on the couch of his house. They talked. Laughed. Bickered a few times and maybe pulled their friends in the middle of their bickering, but in the end, they apologized to each other and kissed before his younger siblings woke up.
Little did she know... it only took a few months before everything ended.
He and Selena were standing in the middle of the cold living room as she looked at the garden where his first love was playing with the cats and his siblings.
"LD—" before he can even talk, she puts her hand up and took a deep breath.
"I thought it was just closure?"
"I... it was supposed to be but when I saw her, I just... stopped thinking and..." he didn't need to finish his sentence for Selena to know what he tried to say. She knew. She knew and it still hurt.
