Walking out of the elevator, I'm immediately hit with a sugary, donut scent.
One thing to note about Valerie SHE LOVES DONUTS especially for breakfast.
I quickly put my stuff down and make my way to the conference room for the daily briefings.
"Jazmine you're back"
"Omg we missed you"
I laughed "It's great to be back guys" I spot Valerie and she waved me over.
"How are you my dare?" Her hazel eyes stare straight into my soul. I reply with a simple great.
"After the briefing would you and Laura stay back please " she tells me and I nod quickly taking a seat next to my work besties Laura on my left and Leo on my right.
"What did she ask you?" they both questioned.
"You both are so nosey, if you have to know she wants Laura and I to stay back after the briefing"
Before they could reply someone walks into the room and Leo approaches them.
"Who is that" I ask Laura as I stare at his features.
"I have no clue ask Mrs. Pierce, You're her bestie" she smirks and I roll my eyes playfully.
"Good morning every one, now today's meeting will be a bit different" Valerie started.
"Before we begin, I would like to say a warm welcome back to Ms. Jazmine Hale " She smiled, I nodded and thanked her.
After the clapping subsided she continued and I jotted down notes. Although I don't like to admit I usually zone out a bit.
Laura elbowed me cause me to chime back in, i hold my now sore arm and glare at her.
"Now I would like to introduce you to someone" It got silent, the slight murmurs we ignored throughout the meeting was nowhere to be found and we all sat up straight.
"My Grandson Ashton, he will be taking my place as the CEO of this company and under him will be a new group of individuals of his choosing" the murmuring came back
"How long was I not in for, Did you all know about this?" I whisper to the pair on both sides of me.
They replied with a short no, almost as shocked as I am right now.
was this what she wanted us to stay back?
"Thank you mama" he glances at everyone, his eyes linger at my direction for a bit longer and I brush it off.
It clearly caught the attention of his grandmother Laura and Leo though.
What the hell?
"Firstly, I would like to thank you all for you hard work " he started
"Secondly, my grandmother, Mrs. Pierce has gotten me up to speed and I look forward to working with you all " his jawline was more prominent with every word he spoke.
"Lastly, for the next three days I will be observing the work flow, communication and many more in order to asses and choose the new department heads, like I had been the past week."
Realization struck and everyone looked either horrified or relieved. I on the other hand was confused.
"Within the next week allot of changes will occur."
"Promotions" he says as he steps forward.
"Demotions"
"and lastly elevation"
"For this to work I want every and any issue reported back to me "whether it's a lost pen or a wrong colored dress"
"With that being said , Thank you for your attention. " Everyone files out and returns to their station well except Laura and I and for some reason Leo.
"Leo why are you still here? " Laura asked
"Because I asked him to stay" A low voice boomed.
"Mrs. Hale it'd nice to finally meet you, my grandmother raves about you" he says.
"It's just Ms. Hale, Jazmine Hale and its an great to meet you Mr. Pierce." I shift a bit uncomfortably noticing my sore breast filled with milk but i quickly ignore it and shakes his hand.
"Now with the recommendation from my grandmother and what I have seen of your work I would like to offer you the position of Head Designer " Laura's jaw drops, Leo chokes on his water and vigorously coughs.
I look at Valerie, eyes filled of uncertainty but she grins.
"Now this may be allot to take in but if you do decide to take the position every decision regarding our clothing will be ran by you which would be a bit stressful which is why Ms. Smith here as well."
"If Ms. Hale so chooses to take the position I would like you to The Second head in our Design department in some instances you may act as a secretary for Ms. Hale but those are specifics I would only discuss after a final decision is made "
"If possible I would like an answer by Wednesday" He says as he finally takes a seat and pulls out his phone.
"I trust I made the right decision here Jaz?" Valerie asks
"You did, its just allot" I laugh.
I say my good bye's but as I am about to leave Valerie stops me,
"As your former boss I urge you to take the position"
"And as your friend I got you a little present, Get your bags and meet me upstairs" she whispers as she walks towards the elevators,
Upstairs, the last floor of the building, only the people who matter are up there. My curious mind is doin somersaults while I grab my bags, Laura looks at me confused but continues with her stuff on her desk.
Leo on the other hand is still in the conference room with Mr. Pierce.
