CW: Alcohol/Violence/Blood n shit
The room was humid and smelled like red wine and damp carpet. 5 people sat in a small living room, huddled infront of a TV.
Den layed herself over the arm of her chair, drunken. It didn't take long for her to be passed out. The ambiance of her snoring and the loud hum of the dim lights supported in the background. Curt and Christian were playing on a console plugged into the tv. Curt groaned as the right side of the screen flashed red, indicating his loss. Christian pumped his fist in the air as Ivan egged him on for his win. Chilly watched intently, leaning back onto her beanbag. Ivan reached into his chip bag and shuffled his hand around.
"Ah shit. It's empty." Ivan frowned, tossing the bag aside. He reluctantly gets up from the armchair for a replacement bag. As he walks to the kitchen area of the living area he feels something trickling from his nose. He taps his finger to the bottom of his nose, revealing a red stain. A nosebleed. No big deal. Ivan grabs a tissue off the counter and wipes away the excess blood before grabbing chips and heading back to the couch. Not even minutes after he sat back down, there was a knock at the door.
"You know who that could be?" Curt wonders aloud.
"Nah. Maybe the landlord?" Christian replies, still fixated on the video game.
"I'll go check." Chilly offers, getting up from the beanbag. Curt pauses the game and looks over his shoulder as Chilly approaches the door. Looking through the keyhole she sees a blonde women around her age, her hair draped on one shoulder.
"Someone's tinder date?" She jokes, turning back to the boys. "Genuinely not sure who it is though." She sighs.
"Just leave it. Might be a neighbor welcoming us in." Ivan suggests, adjusting his sunglasses.
"Alri-" Chilly starts before being cut off.
"Hello? Is anyone home..?" The girl asks in a timid voice. Chilly winces, contemplating opening the door.
"Just leave it." Christian says, noticing Chilly's indecisiveness.
"Please.. I just got home and my door was unlocked.. There's blood everywhere and my cat is missing. I don't want to go inside alone." The girl pleaded, knocking frantically on the door. "Maybe we should call the cops?" Chilly asks, a worried expression overtaking her face.
"I think we should just let her inside. Just for now." Ivan states.
"I don't trust her. She should stay outside while we call the cops." Christian agrees,
"Yeah. I don't trust the situation enough for her to be inside here." The banging gets louder.
"Let me in..! Let me in! Please."
Chilly's face contorts in fear. "She sounds worried!"
"No shit, I say we keep whoever the hell did that away from us. The only thing between us and him is this door." Curt reasons, dropping his controller. The banging continues.
"She sounds desperate, we should just-"
BANG. BANG. BANG.
The door begins to rattle.
"What in the.." Ivan begins but trails off. Loud growling can be heard from outside the door. "What the fuck, dude. That can't be the same girl." Christian yelps, approaching the door cautiously. He slowly looks through he peephole. The girl is no longer there. In its place is a lanky inhuman monster.
"Guh-!" Christian shouts, backing away.
"What is it?" Curt frowns, looking at Christian's pale face. Before Christian could answer, the door brakes down with a loud CRRKKKK. A large silhouette of a creature where the woman once stood. It lunged forward, tackling Ivan to the ground. Ivan screamed, trying the combat the vicious monster.
"Oh my god." Curt stammers as he backs away from the creature. Unaware of the space, he knocks into a painting Den put up.
In all the commotion, Den wakes up from her sleep. "Can you guys shut up for 2 seconds, please?" Den groaned placing her hand on her forehead.
"Den! Help! There's a monster!" Chilly panicked. "Someone help me!" Ivan shouted in the struggle. Den looked over to see Ivan on the floor being attacked. But more importantly she saw her weapon storage being exposed.
"Curt, grab a weapon!" Den shouted. Curt reached into the wall and grabbed a katana. Chilly ran over and grabbed a flamethrower. Curt tosses Christian a baseball bat. Christian didn't hesitate the thwack the creature in the head. It screeched and lifted it's claws to its head. Ivan kneed it in the stomach and climbed backwards. It lashes out, flailing its arms wildly, clawing through Chilly's flesh. Her eyes widen as she screams.
"Oh shit!" Christian shouts. Den gets up from her chair.
"Curt!" She calls to him. Curt nods and tosses her a taser on a spear. She jabs the spear into the monster's abdomen and kicks it back out the door. Chilly slams the door shut. She winces. The creature did a number on her leg. Without a second thought, she tears her sleeve off. Using it as a bandage, she tightens the cloth around her leg.
"What was that thing?" Curt asks, concerned.
"I'm not sure.. we should check the TV." Den reasons, running back to her spot at the TV. The others follow. Christian unplugs the console from the TV, revealing the cable. Den flicks through the channels quickly, eventually coming across the news channel. "...first sign of monsterification is nosebleeds and auditory hallucinations . Yet so much is unknown about this disease or the monsters. We have reason to believe the monsters respond to sound. Stay quiet. Carry a weapon. And seek shelter if possible." The TV flicks off. Ivan's face goes pale.
"Okay so no screaming.. Chilly." Ivan whispers.
"What the fuck! You were screaming your ass of earlier!" Chilly whisper-yelled.
"I almost got eaten alive!" "You barely got scratched." Chilly furrowed her eyebrows.
"Yeah but-" Ivan started before Christian interrupts.
"Shut upp. Here's the real question. Who's been having nosebleeds?"
