You don't have to read this, but you'll be confused otherwise.
Terrorlings- if you know Hearts and Heroes, you know them. Terrorlings are the antagonists of the game, but in this AU, they are more or less actors. These little guys shapeshift into something the dreamer fears. Their role is to help dreamers get over their fears so that they can become true heroes. When they are defeated by dreamers, they don't actually die, they get teleported back home.
Dark egos- egos that are pretty much just meaner versions of their counterparts. They tend to have power over the other dark species (terrorlings, shadows, and devils) And out of them, Darkiplier's in charge. Legally, him AND Anti are the 'kings', but Dark does all the work, so...
Shadows- they are creatures made by dark egos or are their companions. They are typically dark versions of the youtuber's pet or mascot. They don't really have a place in the hierarchy.
'Devils'- They are the middle rank of the dark species, between terrorlings and the dark egos. They are the judges of the dreamer's character, during the dream they are kind of like the final boss, they decide if you are going down the right path or not. They see if your mind is free of guilt and darkness, and if it's not, try to steer you towards the right path. Like terrorlings, they aren't truly killed when battling dreamers.
'Angels'- they are creatures seemingly made of light. Unlike the dark creatures, they are made from things like dark thoughts and narcissism. They are called angels because their looks are very deceptive, and the ones that make them are usually narcissistic.
Hunters- These people are dreamers that are actually capable of killing terrorlings and devils in combat. Some are just ignorant dreamers with too much power, but one... Fortunately, natural born hunters are extremely rare.
Other shit:
This is an AU that combines WKM and Hearts and Heroes. Most of the past lore of the AU will be explained along the way, so kick back and enjoy. However, if you haven't watched Who Killed Markiplier or Hearts and Heroes, I recommend you watch it on Markiplier's channel.
'Demon' is the character used to represent the 'house entity' bits in Darkiplier. Just imagine Damien but as a literal shadow- not the species.
Rev is a Shadow companion to Dark. He is a wolf with black wispy fur and one red eye and a blue eye. And when Dark's thoughts/words are underlined that means Celine's in control. Bold is for Demon. Italic is for Damien. Also, depending on who is in control of the body at the moment changes Dark's pronouns. If Celine's in charge, Dark goes by she/her. Damien, Demon, both of them, or all three of them is he/him. If Celine and ONE of the boys is in control, it's they/them.
