That Day|part 1

It ringed, now a classic alarm. "O-oh already," I said in surprise. I felt more tired than usual, but I gave up trying to sleep. I just staggered down the hall as quietly as I could. As I walked around Michael's room, I heard his loud snoring. I smirked at it and kept walking.

As I walked down the stairs, I found that the front door was not locked. I quietly opened them and went outside. I was now standing on the terrace. There were a lot of trees around the house, but nothing like a forest. I ignored the thought and took a deep breath. But I wasn't calm inside.

'No! This is terribly wrong! '

I wanted to scream, but instead I stared at the beautiful sunrise. It was something I couldn't stop looking at. "So beautiful." I said almost in a whisper.

All my negative thoughts disappeared

I stepped off the terrace and touched the grass. There were dewdrops on it. It was so peaceful here.

Out of nowhere, a light illuminated me. I turned back to the house. A light came on in Mrs Afton's and Mr Afton's room. 'Damn, they're probably up already!'
I panicked and ran back inside.

Just as I closed the door and entered the kitchen, there were footsteps walking down the stairs. I panicked and at that moment I didn't even think to hide somewhere, so I just stood there.

A figure entered the room, yawning and rubbing it's eyes. As soon as he looked up, he saw me. "Evan?" I recognized William in the small light that the sun made through the window. "o-oh hi dad!" I tried an innocent smile, but my nervousness didn't make it much easier.
"What are you doing here? You should still be-" William yawned again. "You know what? I don't care. I have to go to work." He said and began making coffee in the kitchen.

I sighed. "Of course he doesn't care." I said to myself a little upset and headed back to my room. As soon as I came in, something stopped me. A golden teddy bear laying on the bed. "How come I didn't notice him?" suddenly a chill ran down my spine. 'Was he looking at me?' Sure, in FNaF 4, he looked at me too, but it wasn't that scary considering it was a pixel minigame. His eyes shone like a light bulb. "And the boy is fine with this?" I shouted in confusion.

I took the teddy bear in my hands to take a closer look. A chill ran down my spine again and I tossed the teddy bear back onto the bed.
I crossed my arms. "So what's in store for me today?" I thought about it. 'Those nights are getting harder and harder. If this goes on, I'll die of exhaustion.'

Elizabeth ran into the room, already full of energy that I would greatly appreciate now. "Evan! Evan! come play with me!" she shouted all excited. I couldn't believe she had just woken up and was so energetic. There was no sign of fatigue or sleepiness on her face. How I wish I could go back home and believe that this was all just a dream. It's too vivid for a dream, too much.

"-an? Evan!" I snapped out of my thoughts.
"W-What?" I looked at Elizabeth. We just looked at each other for a while, then she smiled. "Come on, come play!" She spinned like a ballerina and showed me her dolls. "I'll be the Circus baby and you'll be your teddy bear." She took my hand and dragged me to her room. Not that she had that much strength, after all she's still in the kindergarten, but I had nothing to do anyway, so I let myself be dragged away.

-Time skip (1 hour later)

"Shall we go see if mom is awake?" I asked. We've been playing with dolls for an hour now and I have to admit that Elizabeth has a great imagination.

"We can! Yeah actually, happy birthday bro." I felt my stomach swing, like on a roller coaster. 'B-Birthday?!' I couldn't move. 'If it's Evan's birthday then...'

Tears welled up in my eyes, but I looked up at the ceiling to push them back. When I looked back at Elizabeth, I was met with a confused and worried look on her face. "Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" I saw how she started to think about something, and they probably weren't very pleasant thoughts, because she immediately flinched.
I quickly hugged Elizabeth. "It's nothing, just... thanks" Elizabeth smiled. She stood up and offered her hand to help me up. I accepted her offer and we went downstairs together.

"Good morning children!" Mrs. Afton greeted us just as we came down the stairs. "How did you sleep." she asked. I don't know how she didn't notice my huge circles under my eyes, but she did. I didn't know how to answer, but Elizabeth took the floor anyway. "Great! I had a dream that I met Circus Baby and we had a lot of fun." Elizabeth then began to recite her entire dream while I sat down at the table and waited patiently for her to finish.

"What about you Evan?" asked Mrs. Afton.
"Umm me?" I asked in surprise as I was deep in thought. Mrs. Afton laughed softly. "Yes you Evan. What did you dream about?" I had to come up with a lie quickly so I wouldn't have to explain why I didn't sleep at night. It seemed silly but simple. "I don't know, I don't remember." I said and took a glass of water. Mrs Afton seemed to believe it. "That's okay, it happens sometimes. Okay, let's eat. Evan go get your brother please."

I spilled the water I was just drinking. This surprised Mrs Afton and she turned to me. "All right?" I took the cloth and started whipping up the mess I made.

"Yeah Yeah. Just caught me off guard." I looked towards the stairs to Michael's room. They seemed endlessly long now.

He wasn't scary in my head. But in the case of Evan's head, it was different. 'Okay Y/N, you can do it. What's the worst that could happen.' I realized that I haven't used my name in a long time. It was strange to hear it after so long.

I took the first step. And another one behind the first one. In no time I was upstairs and now standing outside Michael's room. I knocked. There was silence for a moment before the door creaked open and a person about 2 heads bigger than me emerged from behind it. I unconsciously took a step back.

"What is it?" Michael said in an annoyed voice.
My stomach clenched. "B-breakfast" I blurted out. Michael didn't say anything to that, he smirked and went down the stairs to the kitchen. 'I know what you're planning' I thought and followed him.

The smell (of your favorite warm breakfast) wafted downstairs. You ignored the fact that Mrs Afton had accidentally cooked your favorite meal and sat down at the table. "Happy birthday Evan!" Said Mrs. Afton excitedly. I smiled and nodded thanks. I enthusiastically started eating.

As soon as I finished eating, Mrs. Afton took the plate from me. I got up and was about to go to the room when someone's hand grabbed my shoulder. "Happy birthday" I heard someone mutter almost inaudibly. Then they let go and I saw Michael walk past me. I stood there in shock. When I heard the door to his room close, I managed to move a little. 'He...' was my first thought. I had to smile. 'That was adorable!' I laughed. It was the last thing I would have expected from Michael.
Mrs. Afton came to me. "Evan you look happy, did something good happen?" She surprised me a little. "No. Actually it did...." I trailed off. "Mom, do you think Michael loves me deep inside?" I asked looking at her. "But of course he loves you. He's just too big for him to show it. Dad made a birthday reservation for you at a pizzeria. Get dressed and we'll go." I nodded, and even though I knew what was coming next, I ran to change.

On the way to the car, I thought about what Michael told me. 'Maybe he's not such a bad brother.' I didn't understand it. Why would he scare Evan when he was "nice" to him afterwards. I got into the car where Elizabeth was already sitting with Mrs Afton. Michael said he'll come there later with his friends. That immediately spoiled my mood. It was amazing that even though I had my thoughts, I was still dominated by Evan's thoughts. It was still his body. The only thing that changed was that I controlled him. As soon as I shot the thought, I winced as if I had just realized something. We didn't drive long, about 10 minutes. When we pulled up, Elizabeth immediately opened the door and ran inside.

"Elizabeth! Come back!" That was the first time I heard Mrs Afton scream. She quickly got out and went after Elizabeth. I was left alone in the car. I just sat there for a while processing what just happened. The car was unlocked. I got out of the car and slowly moved to the pizzeria alone. There were many sounds inside.

It made my stomach churn. So many kids... 'Didn't mom say dad reserved it here?' Most of the kids were just running around talking. There was no place at the table, and there was no sight of Mom. I found an abandoned table in the corner of the room and sat under it so no one could see me. I wrapped my arms around my knees. '...I'm so tired' I thought and closed my eyes for a moment.
