tighnari / gn ! reader

sumeru... you had to admit, was a very beautiful place. the trees were a nice luscious green, and the air felt just as fresh as the salty breezes of liyue harbor. heck, even the stars seemed to grow a tad bit brighter.

after that hassle of a descension rite back in your former home, liyue, you had decided to travel to sumeru in favor of trying their reknowned spices.

nilou had warmly welcomed you into the nation and you had quickly grown accustomed to the culture and its people. they were intelligible, diligent in their work, and kind too. not to mention, you've managed to develop a soft spot for a certain raven haired boy and his cute pointy ears.

upon meeting tighnari for the first time, the poor guy had been trembling the whole time as you introduced yourself – he was quite shy. however, he overcame his bundle of nerves and calmed down the longer he spent his time with you and got to know you.

anyways, enough about the past. as of now, you were currently having trouble sleeping. the air wasn't too damp for your liking, nor the sounds of the forest being too loud and obnoxious – which they weren't, by the way. it's just... you couldn't find it in yourself to simply close your eyes and drift off into dream world. you simply couldn't.

and so you've taken it upon yourself to climb the sides of your house and onto the roof. having made it to the top without unceremoniously falling off into the shrubbery below, you settled for lying down on your back and gazing up at the stars.

you smiled softly as the wind blew gently and the animals of the forest cooed their faint lullabies, and the stars twinkled ever so slightly as if they too were joining in on the forest's symphonies.

your smile grew wider at the mere shift of air beside you, "what brings you here, nari?"

humming, you turned your head to the side and chuckled at his slightly ruffled hair. tighnari huffed and stared back at you, "i could ask you the exact same thing."

"...fair enough."

tighnari rolled his eyes and joined you in lying down so that he could also stargaze, meanwhile trying to ignore the constant thrashing of his heart against his chest and the rising heat in his cheeks.

"the stars are beautiful, aren't they?" he blurted out, causing you to wheeze slightly.

"aren't they always beautiful?-" you laughed out.

tighnari sighed exasperately and shoved your arm playfully, "let me have my moment, jeez."

"okay, okay-"

the two of you enjoyed the comfortable silence as the stars continued to shine relentlessly. as you were looking up at the stars, tighnari was experiencing an internal crisis.

c'mon nari, you have to say it to them now!

"(n/n), i have something to tell you," he started off quietly as he slowly sat up.

you furrowed your eyebrows slightly as a feeling of worry began to settle in. he rarely calls you by your nickname, and when he gets quiet... you can't tell if that's a good sign or not.

"yeah, go ahead," you murmured, giving him the clear as you shifted in position and also sat up.

"uhm, i..."

you nodded slowly, giving him that needed reassurance since he was trembling similarly to the first time he met you.

"i... i really like you (y/n)!" he exclaimed, closing his eyes briefly for a second as he said those words.

"i have for a while now," tighnari continued as he opened his eyes and stared back at you with a newfound determination, albeit mixed with a little bit of hesitance, "you're just... i find you really attractive, and the way you work so hard to get things done, your beautiful (e/c) eyes and the way they sparkle when you get excited or if you're eating (f/f)... there's just so many things i like about you, heck, maybe even love..."

"what i'm trying to say is that you make me feel a lot of things. whenever i'm with you, i feel like i'm out of this world and whirling past the stars of teyvat and across the universe," tighnari finished off.

to say you were shocked is an understatement. in fact, you were too stunned to speak. your mouth parted slightly as you fumbled over your words.

"i-"

tighnari stared at you with hopeful eyes, and you couldn't help but to regain your composure and laugh softly. you reached out and stroked one of his ears, watching in amusement as a red hue spread across the cheeks of the male in front of you.

"i like you too, ya dork."

tighnari flushed an even darker red and huffed, "if anything, you're the dork, stupid."

"oh just get over here!"

and with that, you grabbed tighnari's hand and dragged him to lay back down beside you. as you both resumed your silent moments, you firmly held his hand and intertwined your fingers together, your thumb caressing his as you hummed contentedly.

slowly, you began to grin, "you're still trembling?"

"shut up."
