A/N: hello again!! here is chapter three :D i hope you like it!! we're finally 'introduced' to the main man of this story ;)  part four should hopefully be uploaded tomorrow, so stay tuned! don't forget to vote and feel free to leave comments as the end as they are always appreciated bye <33

you watched the screen, anticipating its next move when your own phone started ringing. perfect timing. you scoffed, struggling to decide between the two phones. eventually you set down the one in your hand and walked around the desk to your bag. as you withdrew the phone, you saw the unfamiliar number on your screen and realised it was a new client.

your side job as a private hire cleaner had been quite quiet these past few weeks and whilst you loved the rest, you had to admit you also missed it a bit. cleaning was hard work but you found it quite therapeutic too; that was even the reason you had decided to start the business. it would be foolish to not make money off something you enjoyed.

'hello?' you asked, the receiver centimetres away from your mouth. you had placed the phone to your ear deciding it was more important as the other call had gone to voicemail anyways.

'ah, hello!' called a voice from the other end. 'i understand that you clean for people, yes?'

'yes..' you replied, it seemed like such an obvious answer but being rude never ended well for you.

'ah perfect! i was wondering if you would be able to start for me today? say, 3pm?'

'i can totally start today, no issue there. unfortunately, i'm still working at that time. how about 4pm instead? is that okay?'

'yeah that's fine! i'll text you my address then and you'll be alright to get here on your own?'

'yup, i'll be okay. thank you for your time and i look forward to meeting you soon!'

'ah good, as do i! goodbye!'

'bye!' you said and with that you hung up, gently tossing the phone down onto the desk. as it lands, a buzz resonates from it and a message flashed up on the screen.

→hello, i live at XXX!! i hope to see you soon :D~

you quietly chuckled to yourself, the smiley face childish and cute. you turned in your chair and opened up your laptop. as the screen loaded you plugged your headphones in, contemplating what music to listen to. you eventually picked out some IC3PEAK as their music frequently helped you hyperfocus and occasionally inspired you too. as adobe loaded, you selected the spotify icon and scanned your recently listened to; upon spotting the artist you clicked onto their profile and started by playing TRRST. opening up the adobe tab, pen in hand, your mind immediately switched into creative mode and you were gone.

hours had passed before you rechecked the time - 3:07. with not long to go, you checked your phone for any notifications you'd missed. various messages from friends on whatsapp, some of your fellow artists had posted on instagram, a couple snaps from friends too but other than that there was nothing you decided was of importance. as you turned your screen off, you caught a glimpse of the previous message from your new client, the thought resurfacing the smile you had earlier shed.

for some reason you had also decided to check your work phone. you'd received messages from an unknown number but you recognised the digits as those of your new employer. tapping on the notification you read as follows:

→afternoon miss yn, i'm your new anonymous employer. apologies for not previously picking up your call, i had to make one of my own.
→i hope the lack of identity isn't a bother. as i'm sure your wonderful boss, david, explained to you, i would just rather keep this entire project as secret as possible. i didn't think it was necessary for you to know who i am so i decided against it.
→i really look forward to working with you and seeing what you come up with. i trust your talent will satisfy me. goodbye~

huh, odd. must be a coincidence.

after getting back to your work, you checked the time again. 3:29pm.

you sighed, your wrist aching from drawing all day. you rolled it around, along with your neck; you had felt your muscles stiffening over the last few hours but they weren't too important, you were used to it at this point.

pushing your chair back from the desk, you grabbed your bag from the floor beneath it and started to gather your things to put them inside. you downed the last of the, now cold, coffee sitting on your desk and headed for the door. with one last look around the room, confident you had all you needed, you turned to walk out of the door, shutting it behind you with a soft "click".
