Note(s): TW now, if you don't like blood, gore, death, etc, just uh.. don't read this? I mean, you're a fan of creepypasta so it was inevitable?

Your death occurred approximately around October 16th, at 10:30 PM. Your remains were found by a hiker.

It was about a year ago, that your death occurred according to forensics and medical examination.

There was signs of strangulation due to a separate force, possibly a person; then blunt force trauma to the cranium. There was a long period of unconsciousness before you were finally killed by another blow of blunt force trauma to the other side of your head, eventually killing you.

This ruled your cause of death as a homicide, yet to this day your killer hadn't been caught.

You knew who it was, your soul ached in sadness as you remained on this plane of existence as a spirit. You remember the day, too. When you had visited a video game convention and were abducted by a very famous YouTuber.

It hurt.

Someone you trusted and idolized, someone millions of people idolized and looked to for guidance. It was somebody who was very well loved and hadn't caused any drama nor had done any bad things at all.

They had a clean reputation on the Internet, being in compilations of the most unproblematic famous youtubers.

Now, your spirit remained. You wandered the woods of which you'd been abandoned. There wasn't much, if not any humans around so it was pretty peaceful and cleansing to your now metaphorically aching heart.

Sitting quietly on the forest floor, you watched a colony of ants scuttering about. It was nice, as you could practically noclip your head through the ground and get a better look of what these beings were doing without them touching you and crawling on you.

Unlike being alive, there wasn't brain fog in your mind nor intrusive thoughts. You could've been there watching the ants for hours and forgot you were sentient.

This was how many spirits went about without going insane from being alone or having nearly infinite time to themselves. They often got lost either in thought or just forgetting they could think all together, dazing off.

Suddenly a loud bark caught your attention making you look up out of the ground. Your heart suddenly danced with joy as you spotted a dog running towards you.

Instead of going through you, it nearly tackled you and started licking your face.

Now this caused a feeling you hadn't experience in a very long time. You hadn't been touched by another being in a while, so you hugged the canine with tears in your eyes.

"SMILE-" Jolting once more, you gazed up to see another spirit who had owned said dog that was showing you much needed affection.

He was around 5'4" with sandy-ish blonde hair, and cold empty sockets for eyes that had a slight red glow in the middle of them. You'd seen scarier more heart stopping spirits before this.

His hair wasn't fancier styled like usual, it was a mess with dirt and blood in it. He had a green sweater on it with rips and tears, the logo on the sweater was vague as it was clearly weathered from age.

"He likes you. He doesn't like people." He spoke up in a soft voice with an accent you couldn't place at first. It was a type of slight southern twang, just a touch but enough to know it was audibly there.

"I've heard that before, when I was alive." You replied quickly, you recognized the dog as a husky mix of some kind, "He's a good boy, isn't he? What was his name? Smile, something another?"

The boy eyed you cautiously, "Smile dog is what his owner named him, but we call him Smile or Smiley, cause he smiles a lot."

The dog had a goofy smile but nothing creepy like his name entailed, yet. The canine's tongue dangled out and his tail wagged, while he leaned against you with his rear end as if to say: "Pet my butt, peasant."

You nodded to the boy while doing just as the dog wanted you to do. His fur was slightly rough but not dirty, just coarse but healthy in a way.

Having not met much animal spirits, this was a pleasant experience and brought joy to you that was needed.

"My name's Benjamin, but you can call me Ben or Benny if you want."

You looked back up, "You look familiar, but I'm (Y/n)." You gently reached up and kissed the top of the dog's head happily. What a good boy.

"Benjamin.. that name does sound familiar now that I think about it."

Ben immediately nodded, "It does, doesn't it?" He paused, "My death... My family sacrificed me because they thought I was the antichrist."

You frowned in sadness for the boy, as he sat next to you, "I'm so sorry, nobody should have to go through that."

His gaze met yours for a moment, "Don't apologize for me, it's okay. Eventually you get used to it, you know that though."

Your hand met his; his skin was soft but coarse and rough around the knuckles. He didn't look at you at first but accepted your hand, squeezing it.

"The funny part is, when I was alive I had a thyroid problem which caused me to stop growing around 5'4," He finally looked at you, his hand was smaller than yours.

"You'd think that if I was dead that maybe I'd get taller somehow." Then he looked down, holding your hand in remorse.

You nodded in understanding, "I get it, man. I know how you feel, it's okay. But you are who you are, an older spirit told me once that you can change the way you look when you're dead. I see you didn't change yours."

Ben smiled, his lips curled upward in a way made your heart ache. "I haven't, have I?" He chuckled softly, glancing towards you.

"You don't remember me, do you?" He asked this softly, his hand pulling from your grip and cupping your cheek.

You stared in confusion, eyebrows knitting together as you tried your best. When you die, sometimes memories seem fake and even vanish for a while.

"We dated before I died, for a year and a half," His touch felt magical, as if you recognized it before, "I used to call you Romeo or Loverboy.."

You stared in confusion, but soon some memories began to freckle in here and there, "Benjamin.. Lawman..?" You slowly spoke up.

His hand felt warmer, you could see the joy fill his eyes, "Yes, yes, that's my last name. You're nearly there," His smile felt more real, "Our first date was at the arcade, I beat you at Pac-Man. When the clock struck 8 PM, we sat out on the hood of your dad's car when he was in the bathroom and we kissed for the first time."

You stared to remember more; tears rushed down your cheeks, you couldn't believe you forgot him, but you knew why. The trauma that came with his death, it was unbearable. You thought meeting that Youtuber would help your mental health, but it didn't.

"You hated yourself, the way you looked – you tried to convince me you were ugly, but I was head over heels in love with you. I still am, you know. You are the most BEAUTI-"

He was silenced by your lips, as tears continued to roll down your cheeks.

Ben's eyes widened as he had immediately kissed back, there was no way he would reject this. It had been so long, SO LONG since he'd felt your lips, your touch. When you finally parted, he had a cheeky smile on his face.

"Welcome back, Romeo. I missed you~"
