BEAST GRADE TATTOOS/MARKS
The strength or power of a beastman is shown through the grade of their beast tattoo on their skin. Every time they become stronger, their beast grade and tattoo will change, starting with beast grade 1 and the number slowly increases.
When a beast receives their first beast-grade tattoo or beast mark, they'll also receive their own supernatural powers.

SUPERNATURAL POWERS
Right after a beastman receive their first beast grade tattoo, they'll be given supernatural powers as well. It can be elemental, or other practical supernatural powers.
A beastman can have more than one supernatural or elemental power. However, most of the time, the powers that they are given enhance the strength of their beast animal.

A female beast can borrow their male mate's supernatural power when in danger or when they want to use it, through the Mate Tattoo. When they borrow their mate's power, it can also let their partner know if they are in danger or not, through the Mate Tattoo and Mate Bond.

MATES
When two beastmen becomes each other life partners. Because the population of female beasts is so low, female beasts are allowed to have a number of male partners. However, male beasts normally have one partner for life. Only in a few cases where a male beast's female partner dies and the male beast found another person they really want to be with, will they accept another mate once again.
Most of the time, only the strongest male beast could get over the death of their female partner. In bad cases, they would commit suicide or kill the people that harm their mate and then end their own life to see their mate in the next life. However, some strong male beasts stay strong enough to take care of the children (if they have any) of their mate until they are old enough to be on their own.

MATE TATTOO
When beastmen decide to become partners, they can first conjure a mating contract, that lasts for about 4 months, similar to the modern-day marriage contract. The two just need to drop some of each other's blood in a cup, perform a short ritual and share a drink from that cup. After the 4 months is over, if the two beastmen haven't marked each other yet but then afterward decided to be each other legal partners again, they have to perform that ritual again.
Beastmen can become each other's partners first before performing the mating contract. Getting the mate tattoo first or getting the mating ritual done first. Either way is fine.
If the beastmen decides to agree on permanently becoming each other partners, the male beast will have to mark their female mate where they want during intercourse and their animal tattoo will appear where they had marked their partner. On the other hand, on the chest of the male beast, a tattoo of their female partner's race will appear.
When their partner dies or is seriously injured or is about to pass away, the mate tattoo of their partner starts to fade or disappear completely.
There have been incidences where mate tattoos are forced upon a female beast. This mostly occurs in the unfortunate events that a female beast is raped and forced to become partners with their capture.

MATE BOND
Once two beasts completely become each other mates, they'll have a spiritual and emotional bond with each other. They'll be able to feel their partner's feelings more clearly and their love for each other will grow stronger as the day past.
Mate Bond can only be broken if one of the two partners has passed away or a powerful force (or magic) forcefully break the bond, which can cause life-threatening physical and/or emotional damage to the mates involved.
Mate bonds can only be created if two beasts truely love each other.
