Sherlock yawned loudly, mouth open wide. He rubbed his tired face and laid back against his favourite chair. "Tired Sherlock?" John asked from his usual chair opposite the sleepy detective. Sherlock murmered a reply as he closed his eyes, slipping off into sleep.
He awoke in the same place. Same chair. Sitting up abruptly his eyes scanned the room. No John. And it was dark, very dark. Confused he stood, spinning around. He could tell something wasn't right. Wasn't normal.
A noise from the dark kitchen caught the geniuses attention. Frowning he moved to find his gun, hidden in plain sight inside a old wooden box on the mantel next to his skull friend.
"John? Is that you?"
He felt anxious....wrong.
"John?! Quit mucking around..."
His voice shook, which was very unusual for him. The gun felt strange in his hand. Not as heavy as usual.
He swallowed dryly and moved closer to the kitchen. A strange red light seemed to illuminate the small windows in the dank kitchen.
Another noise. A shuffling. Like something or someone moving.
His finger on the trigger he carefully moved further towards it.
"Iam armed, whoever you are..." he warned, hoping to sound tough, though he was feeling anything but.
His heart dropped as he heard a small chuckle in the dark.
"Fuck..." he muttered to himself.
He turned into the kitchen, gun held in front of him.
His heart pounding was the only sound.Suddenly a figure emerged from the floor, standing from a crouch to a huge height. He seemed to fill the small area, blacking out the light from the windows.
A movement. Quick and silent.
A hand.
No.
Not a hand.
A hand of blades.
The shiny metal seemed to glow.
"Scared? Really Mr Holmes, that's unlike you..."
Sherlock awoke properly, crying out in fear. His long body jumped from the chair, falling onto his knees on the old carpet in front of him. Terrified he looked around.
John jumped from his chair as his friend startled him.
"Shit Sherlock! What the hell?" The Doctor said worriedly as he rushed to his friends side.Sherlock's eyes were wide with fear as he looked into John's eyes.
"The only thing to fear....is fear himself..."
