Hi all, welcome to Heaven's on Fire! This is my first Stranger Things fanfiction so I'm open to constructive criticism. All characters and storylines that aren't the main character, Haven and her backstory belong to the Duffer Brothers. This is information on Haven and her backstory, so please read. The story will most likely still make sense if you choose not to, though, so do what you wish. If you want it, there is a playlist below made for the main character and story, so give it a listen. Backstory:
Haven lived in a small town with her parents, where she fell in love with a girl, Sarah Dolton. The relationship was a dream, and they were happy together, until something changed. Sarah became cold, distant, and emotionally abusive. In 1982, Haven found Sarah cheating on her with a boy at a party, and as a result of her confronting her girlfriend, she was outed to the entire town. After months of being an outcast, Haven convinced her parents to allow her to move from her hometown, and she was sent to Hawkins, Indiana. For almost a year, Haven thrived on her own. She worked at a small café by the hardware store in the centre of town, and lived in a small, dark apartment, using the money her parents sent her every month. One day after school, however, she witnessed the town's pretty boy making his way to the Byer's house. Will Byers had been missing for some time, and upon seeing Steve Harrington's beaten face, she became curious. Naturally, she followed him, eavesdropping on the conversation between him and Nancy Wheeler, before he shoved his way inside the house. After minutes of watching at the window, Haven decided to enter the unfamiliar house, and inspect the source of the screaming and flickering lights. This was a decision she both forever regretted, and was forever grateful for making. It was then that from 1983 Haven became best friends with the boy she, like most others in the town, had misjudged, and was entrapped in a vicious cycle of monsters and mystery of a world that lay beyond their own.
