"I'm going to kick some asses now." Chris was mad. Maybe even beyond mad that we had lost the race.

"Oh, come on. You know perfectly well that you're always going to be better than them." I gave him a small nudge to the shoulder and smiled lightly.

"Alex, you don't get it. My pride is ruined. I let some wannabes beat me at something I have been doing for a long time."

"You'll get over it," I said to him.

I looked down at the mass of people still partying and drinking their cheap alcohol.

"I'm gonna go dance. Coming?" Chris turned towards me and waited for me to answer.

I shook my head and watched as he walked down the steps to the dance floor.

I placed both hands on the railing and closed my eyes trying to feel more at ease.

"Meditating, I see."

I looked to my left and there stood the dickhead with a big ego. I gave him a scowl and what I got back from him was a throaty chuckle.

"You know, I never caught your name."

I looked away from him and focused my attention at the dance floor where Chris was being grinded on by a curvy ginger.

"What's your name?" He repeated after a long wait for me to answer.

"Who's asking?"

"A guy who wants to know a sexy girl's name."

This guy was good. I had to give it to him. Even if he didn't have the best choice of words he made the words he said sound lovely and made you think he was actually telling you a compliment. But of course, I heard his sentence right and felt like a tool since I currently was eye candy to him. I couldn't blame him for even looking at me with lust in his eyes since I seemed to cause that effect on most guys.

"Well, this sexy girl doesn't have a name tonight." I gave him a smirk and cocked my head to the side waiting for his reply.

"Then we'll have to fix that. I'll call you kitten because you remind me of one. Cute from the outer shell, but inside you have an untamed soul ready to pounce on mice who get in your path." He took a sip of his beer can.

"Woah. Okay then, Reid." His name rolled off of my tongue and he looked at me surprised.

"I thought someone like you wouldn't even know my name. I mean why in the world would kitten know my name. Me, a total nobody." His tone was full of sarcasm and I laughed when he put a hand on his heart.

"Your laugh is candy to my ears."

"And your failing flirt attempts are little bombs to my soul."

"Why bombs?" He asked as he took a couple of steps closer to me.

"Because your lame attempts are killing me." I put a finger on his chest and pushed my finger into it. "There's something called a comfort bubble and you just stepped in mine."

"Maybe I like being inside your bubble." He gave me a sly smirk.

I looked away from him and took the position I had been in before he interrupted my peace.

Reid didn't get the hint that I wanted to be alone again because he was yet again in my bubble. His shoulder touched mine. He joined me and watched as people made their way onto and out of the dance floor.

"Hey handsome, want to dance?"

I turned my head to where a tall slim raven haired girl stood. She had a perfectly manicured hand on his upper arm while her other was occupied twirling a strand of her hair.

"Sure." Reid took a quick glance to where I stood and winked my way before taking the skanky raven to the dance floor.

No, I was not jealous. I called her that because she literally had her ass hanging out of her hot pink mini skirt. It was not an appealing view to some and I was one.

I pressed my jacket closer to my body. The cool breeze biting into my cheeks producing scarlet to taint them. It was a cool March night and all that was keeping me warm was my black leather jacket. Chris had left The Cove with the ginger he had been dancing with leaving me with no ride home. What a great best friend, huh?

I continued walking along the dark sidewalk. A couple minutes later a car horn stopped me and made me turn around. There, parked right in front of me was a too familiar car for me liking. The driver's door opened and out stepped Cameron Black, my school's most beloved guy also the guy who had the pleasure of taking my virginity when we were both freshman.

"What a surprise to see you here Alex," he said once he was standing in front of me. His breath reeked of beer, but his honey scent still lingered around him. His dark and brooding eyes were scrutinizing me. He gave me a smirk bringing my eyes to his lips. With the dim street lighting, I finally noticed the bleeding cut on his upper lip. My fingers strayed to it and I found myself lightly tracing over it.

I then asked him, "What happened?"

He caught my wrist and pulled me closer to him while wrapping his other arm around my waist. I distanced my face from his chest and looked up to see his smirk had grown a tad bit bigger.

"You know, the same old rich kid bluffer. He got it worse than me."

"That must have been what gave you the ego bust," I said as I inched my face up towards his only to stop when our noses touched because of an audible motorcycle coming to an abrupt stop.

"Kitten." I turned at the sound of his voice. Reid walked to where Cameron and I stood. I loosed myself from Cameron's grasp and walked to Reid making sure he and Cameron were some distance away.

"Reid, coming to check up on me? I thought you would be pretty busy tonight with that girl from the club." I raised an eyebrow and waited for his reply.

"Come I'll take you home its too cold to be walking."

"It's just a little breeze and anyway my friend can give me a ride."

"Friend? Just moments ago it didn't look like you guys were just friends."

I turned to Cameron and gave him a wave goodbye. He just stared at me as I walked towards Reids bike.

"174 fifth street," I said when Reid got on.
