Patrick POV
Today was my first day at my new school, and, man, do I have a story to tell. To tell a short story, I now have a crush on Jake's nose. But I'm not here to tell a short story.
The day started how you would expect the first day at a new school to start. This entailed telling the entire class who you were (which included listing your IP address, blood type, zip code, shoe size, etc.), why the duck you transferred to a new school in the middle of a school year, and ignoring weird looks from classmates when you explain that your pronouns are attack/helicopter. All the regular stuff. But then I noticed the attractive bulge peeking out from under a boy in my class' mask. Jake's. I couldn't tear my eyes off of Jake's nose. I was blushing at this point. I just can't with that bump barely visible under his mask. I can't. What makes his nose so particularly attractive is the fact that I can't see it completely, it is hidden by his mask. Like a Styrofoam takeout box full of chocolate golden coins, just waiting to be dug up, claimed, and cashed in for a few cents.
Jake soon noticed my unabated interest in his face, and promptly shot me a scowl. I remember thinking, well, shiznit, he's taken! My mind immediately then strayed to murder schemes that could be performed in a school, for no particular reason, really.
At recess, I observe Jake from a distance. I need to know who he's taken by. For no reason, again. Obviously. I spot a boy approaching him that I know almost immediately to be his lover. He is on the tan side, with black side-swept hair. A girl in my class comes up to me, stands beside me for a few seconds, then remarks, "So, Jake, huh?"
I avoid the question and ask her, "Who's that boy with him?" By now, Jake has begun to kiss the mysterious boy's hands.
"Already coming up with murder scenes, huh?" She laughed at her own joke.
She continued. "His name is Julian. I wouldn't recommend messing with him, but love always finds a way, now doesn't it?"
Julian. The name of my new targe- Haha, ignore that. I think the weirdest things sometimes. Moving on, I spend the rest of recess ignoring the rest of my surroundings, zoning in on Jake and Julian. I learn that Jake has an obvious attraction to Julian's fingers, and make a mental note to get my nails done later. I also collect that it will be quite hard to get Julian alone (for a friendly greeting, really, nothing else). The two seem inseparable, almost as if something happened between them that they could never disregard, an experience of sort that connects two people for a lifetime. But this doesn't alarm me. I'll find a way. To have a friendly talk with Julian, I mean.
I spend the rest of the school day breezing through lunch and elective class, in neither of which I am able to see Jake's nose or Julian. Oh well. More time to plot. How to talk to Julian. Obviously.
Once in the comfort of my home, I look for my old BB gun that I got when I was still in the womb. (I was born at a young age) Again, for no reason. I just like how it feels in my hands, the weight of it comforting me that I can take down even the worst of my enemies. Which do not include Julian. I slip the BB gun into my backpack. For show and tell, obviously. Mr. Shiver said we're going to have a show and tell tomorrow to "enhance knowledge on the variety of objects that may be used in a literary analysis". This has nothing to do with Julian, again, as I have told you.
But man oh man, I am excited for tomorrow.
