I rapidly opened my eyes as the chat that was happening a few meters away from me started once again.

A futile discussion, but that still permitted me to stay awake. Truth be told, I barely slept this night, but for a good reason, I swear.

A day that, I hoped, would change my life was about to happen. I could simply not stop to think about the events it would unfold. Nope. Impossible.

So, without any surprise, I was standing there, just a step away from falling into Morpheus' hands. The sun barely being out yet, my only solution to this problem was to listen to the awkward conversation two students were having.

When one tried to launch the discussion towards a particular subject, the other would not notice it and would try to do the same as the former and discuss a subject he wanted to talk about, but this time the poor one that tried first to escape the void that was their conversation would not know how to continue on the subject the other was initiating.

Such a ridicule scene.

Welp, I better not think bad about them. After all, if I was in one of their position, I doubt I would do a better job than them...

I probably should not have such sad thoughts, right ?!

Today was the day I would finally find a friend. It was decided. The only thing that could stop this to happen was my mind. And maybe the fact that I surely looked like a creep. And maybe the fact that I almost never talked to someone of my age in all my lifetime...

Maybe I really had no chance to make friends, after all.

On this depressing conclusion, the buses that everyone here waited for eventually arrived. To put it in simply, all the students here on the parking were waiting for the buses that would bring us to the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Ultimate Nurturing High School.

This school has been created six years ago, with the sudden rise of Ultimate children in the world. Their original goal was to welcome one hundred sixty Ultimate Students by year. A colossal objective.

Wait- I haven't explained what were Ultimate persons yet, have I ?

This all started around the start of the twenty-first century, when the Japan Government began to recruit the most talented people of their country for their own interest. At first, they were only a few, having titles as the like of "Ultimate Commander", "Ultimate Scientist", and some others.

But this changed soon, five years later, as the other countries started to do the same. At that moment, this concept became democratized.

Ultimate Talents were assigned for everything and nothing, creating many funny titles in the way.

Even if your talent did not allow you to do many things, it was not a problem. As long as you were one of the best in your field, you could have your Ultimate Title.

I stated before that the Advanced Ultimate Nurturing High School was created six years ago, did I ? Sorry, that was a bit inaccurate.

It previously was called "Advanced Nurturing High School", only welcoming the country's elite. Of course, with the "Ultimate" thing now being a lot more common, they had to adapt.

It was hard for the first six years, not reaching their goal of having one hundred sixty Ultimate Students per year, but they finally succeeded.

This year, they would receive in their school not more and not less than one hundred sixty Ultimate Students.
